My interest is the Banat region. My grandfather emigrated from a village called Nagybodolya
in
Baranya county, but is now in Croatia and called Podalje. I am researching the family name
FEYERS
(FAYES) and HORVATH. I am interested in knowing more about the region, village and
churches
in the village/town. Michael FEYERS emigrated to the USA in 1900 and resided in Chicago.
He
came with a wife (Mary) and two sons I know about ( Paul and Steve) and two daughters. I
understand one daughter remained in Austria-Hungary.
DRAGICEVIC, GEORGE

(Australia)
My interest in the Banat stems from the fact that my mother is from the town of Franzfeld
which I believe is nowadays called Kacarevo (sp?). Her maiden name is DJUGA and her
first
married name was BATELKA (her christian name is Sofia). My mother emigrated to
Australia in 1954 along with her sister Lisa who now lives in Queensland. I have precious
little information on my family, only some incomplete church records which date back to the
start of the 19th century. I have decided to document as much information as I can at this
time, as much of the history is oral.
I believe a branch of the family with the surname SCHUTZ (my great-uncle) emigrated to
the
United States early this century and suspect this family comprises of a large number of
people
as he had many children who also emigrated. I believe they settled in Ohio (possibly
Mansfield?). I would very much like to follow up on this branch of the family. I believe
there
is also a historical society comprised of people from Franzfeld and their descendents located
in Reutlingen? in Germany.
I remember seeing a book on the history of Franzfeld many years ago whilst I was visiting
Germany, a copy of which I would like to obtain. This book was published by this
organisation. The majority of the family on my mother's side returned to Germany after
WW2
and settled in Baden-Wurttenburg in the town of Laufenburg, near Basle on the Rhine and in
the Stuttgart region. Some family members are located in the town of Balingen also.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who may be from Franzfeld or descendents of people
from the town. Any information on the culture/traditions of the Volksdeutsche of the Banat
or
any other leads which may help me locate distant relatives would be much
appreciated.
Names I'm interested in: DJUGA, TSCHORBA, GARAJ, PETRASCH in Kowatschitza,
ABELOVSKY, SIMEK, LIPTAK in Padina, and SCHUTZ, MULLER, BATELKA in
Franzfeld.
EDWARDS, SANDRA
eMail address: EdwardsSLR@aol.com
I am seeking information about my ggparents George RENNICH and Emilie ONDRUJ and
their parents, siblings, and ancestors. George was born in 1862 in Perjamosch, Hungary
(Periam, Romania), where his family, beginning with Jakob REINICH, had resided for
several
generations. I do not know from where Jakob came, but think the areas of Saarland or
Alsace-Lorraine are likely. George's parents were Johann RENNICH and Anna ROTH. He
had an older sister and brother, Katharine and Johann Georg, whose death dates and histories
I do not know. He also had a younger brother and sister, who died young, and a step-sister
Anna, who was born in 1874 to George's widowed mother and her second husband Franz
BITTENBINDER. Anna (born in 1874) may have emigrated to the U.S..
The birth records (place: Temesvar, Hungary; now, Timisoara, Romania) for the three
children of George and Emilie state that Emilie was from Maiere, Hungary (there were both
a
village and a quarter in Timisoara by that name). Emilie's sister Marie was born in
Temesvar, so Emilie may also have been born there. The marriage of George and Emilie, I
assume, took place in the village of Maiere or in or near Temesvar or Perjamosch.
Emilie's parents were Josef ONDRUJ and Marie REICHELT. Josef was born in Borkowan,
Moravia; Marie was born in Zulesin, Wegstadtl, Bohemia. I think they both came to the
viscinity of Temesvar before they met and married. There were REICHELDs in
Perjamosch;
perhaps these were related to Marie.
The above summary has many assumptions I would like to prove or disprove and many
people I would like to learn more about. Any help would be much appreciated.
Incidently, there were RENNICHs in Egres (Igrisch) who were related to my relatives in
Perjamosch. I am gathering information about them as well.

FINDEIS, ANNE
eMail address: AnneFRN@aol.com
Requesting information on the FINDEIS family, emigrated from the Black Forest area of
Germany sometime in the 1700s to Stanischitz (Austria-Hungary, Batschka region, later
became part of Yugoslavia). Last known ancestor in Stanischitz is Franz FINDEIS and wife
Margarethe WEINER (born 1792). They apparently left Stanischitz and moved to Gakowa
where their children were born and their descendents stayed til World War II.

I have very little information about my mother's family. She was born, according to school
records, in Glonjesnig Austria-Hungary. Her father's name was Albert SZASZ. Her
mother's
name was Mary SZASZ, nee DEMITTER (sp).
Both grandparents were Hungarian speaking.
I have some distant relatives in
Budapest,
by the name of GABOR, and some in Tirgu-Mures, by the name of HERMANOVSKY. If
you have any info, have done any research and run across any of these place/ people names,
please contact me.
All contact with European relatives was lost, several years ago.
I think at least one side of my family was from Transylvania (?).

Researching the GROSSART Family in Tscherwenka or Cservenka, Bacs-Bodrog,
Austria-Hungary (later Yugoslavia, now ??)
Adam GROSSART (25 Sep 1859 - 6
Sep
1911)
His wife: Barbara ART (5 Nov 1861 - 10 Feb 1940)
Their Children:
Philip
GROSSART (25 Nov 1881 - 12 May 1972)
Elizabeth GROSSART (c. 1884)
Adam GROSSART (c. 1892)
They immigrated to Chicago in 1903-1906.
Does anyone know where the
evangelische Kirche (Lutheran church) records are?
I have heard that the church in Cservenka, as well as many others, was burned down after
WWII. I am also looking for any pictures and history of the town, what life was like
then.

The first of these books contains genealogies for all residents of Kunbaja and is going to
press for a new edition shortly. If you are interested in ordering a copy from the author for
DM45, let me know soon.
(2/18/95) I believe the second is out of print. The third is a compilation from LDS
microfilm, its only virtue is in being easier to read. It is an index to the information, not
much information in itself. Can be ordered by sending $25 to Mrs. Connor. The fourth is
useful for finding small towns in Germany. Available in any good bookstore in
Germany.

Relatives came from the Banat region in early 1900's from Josefsdorf, Bethausen, and
Bakowa.
Primary names of interest: HEROLD, LAMPL
Friends in Berchtesgaden, Germany
who lived in Bakowa until about 10 years ago. In the past several years they have been
actively involved in taking food and supplies to Banat in truck caravans.

I am specifically interested in the Batschka area.
Towns of interest to me
include
Priglevica-SzentIvan, Bezdan, Bereg, Kolluth, and Gakova.
Some of the surnames in my lines are as follows: AMMAN, BRAUN, ERHARD, GRAFF,
HACK, HORN, HUBERT, KILIAN, KLEIN, KLINGER, KNEPP, LORBACH, MEGEL,
OSWALD, OTT, POSSERT, ROTTER, RUSS, SCHILITZLE, SCHMITUTZ, SCHWAB,
SPRADELER, STEPHEN, STETZ, TRAUB, WEISSGERBER, ZUCK.
NOTE: Although there are a variety of spellings for many of these surnames, only one
spelling is shown above for each.
HULSOPPLE, GINGER ACHTSCHIN
eMail address: huls@server-f.iadfw.net
My
grandfather
was Alois ACHTSCHIN. He was born in Vienna, Austria cir 1870. He married Anna
Maria
SATTLER, born in Leibach, Austria 3/17/1878. My understanding is that the town of
Leibach was renamed after WWI. It is supposed to be in or near Lubjlana. Anna was a
lady-in-waiting for a Baronness before her marriage. She was also a seamstress and Alois
was a tailor. They emigrated to the US in 1906, first to Iowa and then to Chicago and
finally Cleveland, OH. They died within 6 weeks of each other around 1948, 4 years before
I
was born.
My problem is this: We know nothing of Alois' family - NOTHING! My great-aunt
(Anna's
sister) knew some sort of "secret" that she swore she would take with her to her grave - and
she did! To complicate the matter, we heard that most of the family in Austria emigrated
some time around WWII to the upstate NY area and changed the spelling of the name to
Americanize it.
I would very much like to find out something about our family name and history. My father
is now 85. His only sibling, Anne, is now 89. They both are hoping that I will be able to
find some kind of information about the family.
