Joseph B. Everett is East European Content Specialist for MyFamily.com, which also owns Ancestry.com, Genealogy.com and RootsWeb.com.
Prior to joining MyFamily.com, Joe was the Head of International Reference at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. In that capacity, he was responsible for reference services for Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia.
Joe also worked for six years cataloging Germanic and Slavic records at the
Family History Library, especially for Russia,
Belarus, and Ukraine.
Joe graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University in 1996
with a B.A. in Russian and Family History /
Genealogy and received a Masters degree in Library and Information Science from
Emporia State University in 2002. He speaks Russian and German.
Joe first became involved with FEEFHS in 1997, lecturing at the 4th International Convention at Salt Lake City on the revision lists of Imperial Russia. In August 1998, Joe became Managing Editor of FEEFHS Journal (briefly known as FEEFHS Quarterly), working with Editor Thomas K. Edlund to transform the old printed FEEFHS Newsletter into an attractive journal publication. Joe's editorial responsibilities with FEEFHS Journal ended in 2000 as he began his postgraduate studies in library science. Joe resumed activity as an officer in FEEFHS in 2004 as Webmaster for www.feefhs.org, in collaboration with Daniel Schlyter.
Joe has lectured at FEEFHS conventions in Salt Lake City and Van Nuys,
California on topics of Russian Imperial census records, Belarus Research, and
East European maps. He has also published articles in FEEFHS publications
on the Revisions Lists of Imperial Russia and German colonization of the South
Caucasus.
