I am searching for information on my grandfather, Franz Albert
KOEPP born 19 February 1860 at Klein Silber bei Reetz,

Wisconsin. Franz Albert KOEPP filed a Declaration of Intent for
Naturalization 13 December 1884 at Brodhead, Green county,
Wisconsin. He became a citizen of the US on 8 December 1902. He
died 3 February 1946 at Footville, Rock county, Wisconsin. His

I am searching for the ancestors and possibly some descendants in
Germany of Joachim DE BIE / DE BYE, ex-Potsdam, Brandenburg,
Prussia and Maria Anna LECLERCQ. Their son Johannes, Peter,
Jozef, born at Potsdam about 1756, an armourer, arrived together
with his parents at Mechelen, Belgium, about 1780. Were their
ancestors originally native from the Netherlands, invited to
immigrate into Prussia in the 17th century? Was there anywhere
in Germany someone named DE BIE, married with a women named
EBERBACH or EBERSBACH about 1680? Thank you in advance.

I am researching the HERMEL Family. The only information I have
to go on is what is on their tombstone in Minnesota. The
spelling of German words is off and hard to translate, this is
what I can make out.
Johann Traugett Frederick HERMEL born 10 June 1812 at Lubben,
Brandenburg, Germany (stone says Lippen?) It also states he was
in the military, but the rest of the stone is worn out and can't
read it.
wife: Condarine Wilhelmine Juliane Saintpiel (english version)
(no info of her parents on her death certificate) born 8 May 1817
at Pyritz, married 1840. They had 9 children there in Germany
and 2 more in the United States. They first show up purchasing
land in Wisconsin in 1859. They emigrated around 1854-58 to the

I am searching for my grandfather's birthplace. The only thing I
remember him saying was that he came from West Prussia. I have
found his Declaration of Intent to become a citizen and this
states his birthplace as West Prussia. His name was Isador
OMNICZINSKY. This was shortened when he came through Customs to
OHMS. I have found a marriage certificate stating his birthdate
as November 1870. His father's name was John and his mother was
Anna PERCIKOFSKI. In one piece of information about his brother
John, I found the place Homberg, Brandenberg mentioned, but since
then I have found nothing. If you could give me any tips about
what or where to look next, I would certainly appreciate it.
My grandfather died when I was 12 and I don't remember him
talking much about his home in Germany, except that he had more
family there. The family was Catholic if that is any help.
Please if you have any information on how to go about finding out
more, please let me know. Thanks.

at Berlin Germany in 1887-1889. Otto returned to Germany,
leaving no record in New York state. Son Otto W. died in World
War I in France as a US soldier. (Addition) The IGI index states

My Wendish great-great grandparents, Christian GULBIN and Anna
LIESKA, immigrated to Australia on the ship "Australia",
departing Hamburg 1 November 1854 and arriving at Port Adelaide 4
March 1855. Christian was born 5 November 1825 at Werben, near

at Burg 9 October 1847. Christian's father is also believed to
have been named Christian, while Anna's parents were Christian
LIESKA and Elizabeth HONICH. Two children of Anna and Christian
died in infancy in Prussia. Two more young children died en
route to Australia. I would be most interested in knowing
anything of Christian and Anna's pre-emigration history, and
whether there are any families with the names GULBIN and LIESKA
still living in the Cottbus area who might be relatives. I have
never met anyone else with the surname GULBIN apart from the

I'm inquiring if you know of any Lutheran church records for the
village of Duren-Selchow (now Zelichow) in the province of
Brandenburg. My great-great-great-grandparents Martin HENKEL
(1794-1851) and Dorothea Marie KLUTH (born 16 February 1797, died
31 August 1875) lived there. They had three sons: Friedrich
Wilhelm, born 26 May 1826; Wilhelm F., born 30 October 1832 and
Christian F. born 9 August 1819. The family emigrated to Dodge
County, Wisconsin in 1848. Any information on the HENKEL family,
the Lutheran church records in Duren-Selchow and history of the
this village would be helpful in my research.
I am also reseaching the MELCHER / MELCHERT family that lived in
Zehden on der Oder (now Cedynia) and Alt Rudnitz(now Stara
Rudnica), province of Brandenburg. My great-great-granfather
Ferdinand MELCHERT was born 26 April 1826 at Zehden, the son of
Martin and Christiana BORCKE. Ferdinand had three wives that I
know of. His first was Christiana SCHUBER and his second
was Dorothea JORDAN. His third wife was Caroline ROESKE, born 12
February 1838 whom he married in 1875 in Germany. Ferdinand and
Caroline emigrated to America in 1875, settling in Dodge County,

church records or general information on the village of Zehden
would be helpful.

I am looking for information on my grandfather and
great-grandmother. Our family would like to find someone who
would assist in helping us obtain any information about our
family that left Brandenburg, Germany approximately in 1894.
Herr Adolph (Wm. ? F. ? H. ?) ALBRECHT born 15 September 1871 in
Brandenburg, Germany emigrated to the USA around the age of 17 or
18, with his mother Fredericka a widow. Fredericka ALBRECHT we
believe was born May 1845 in Brandenburg, Germany. The ALBRECHTS
are of german Lutheran background. They settled according to
Federal Census records [4 June 1900] in Kewanee Township of
Kewanee City, Henry County, Illinois. Adolph met and married
Maria Carolina Emilie KAISER of Kewannee, Illinois on 15 August
1897 [Known to her family as Mary Carrie KAISER]. Her parents
were: Henry KAISER and Maria Louise KAISER. We have no other
information available to us other than what is listed above. If
we could find out What happened to Adolph's father and
Fredericka's husband... so they would leave Germany and come to
the USA by themselves. In the census records the name changed
from ALBRECHT to ALBRIGHT. We do not know if this was done
officially or if they just changed it when they reached the USA.
The funeral obituaries we have all say different information re:
one says that Adolph came to this country with his parents when
he was eight years of age. [This leads us to believe his father
was still alive], where as the USA Census referred to above
states that he, Adolph ALBRECHT came with his widow mother,
Fredericka and the approximate age listed would make him 17.
Any information would be of great help. Thank you on behalf of
my family.
