ADAMS, Jennifer
eMail address: blythesf@earthlink.net

I am researching WUTEH, LESKOVAR and GUMSEY from Laproje and POHLEVEN from Lublijana Slovenia. These families emigrated from Slovenia about 1912 and settled in Little Falls and St. Johnsville, New York. Hilda Gumsey settled in Cleveland Ohio. Grandmother Katerina WUTEH born in Laporj, Slovenia single-handedly raised 14 children and outlived most of them. Her Daughter Anna A .WUTEH was born in 1880 in Laporj, Slovenia, married an unknown LESKOVAR and died 1963 in Saint Johnsville, New York. Anna came to America about 1912 with two of her sons, Alvin LESKOVAR born 28 September 1905 and Louis LESKOVAR born 22 September 1907, both born in Laporje. She left her daughter Antonjia born 16 June 1911 behind. Anna and her sons settled in Little Falls, New York. Antonjia joined her mother and brothers in Little Falls about 1928-1929. Antonjia married Frank POHLEVEN Jr. on 13 September 1909 Austria (his mother was just visiting there). He is the son of Frank POHLEVEN of Lublijana and Julia HALTER of Austria. I believe they lived in Little Falls as well. Anton WUTEH, born about 1880, the other child of Grandmother Katerina WUTEH eventually came to america as well, after 1928, and settled and married in Chicago. Hilda GUMSEY, born about 1880, was my grandmother Antonjia's godmother, and she came to America after 1928 as well and settled in Cleveland Ohio. Looking for other family members in America and Laporje. Thanks.

BOMBAC, Lawrence A.
eMail address: Steelsoda@aol.com

I am interested in my geneology dating back into Slovenia. Born in Lorain, Ohio, son of John V. BOMBAC, grandson of Anton Bombac, who came from Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Family originating in Rakek, just north of Ljubljana. My great grand fathers name is Ludwig and he married a Duzbic in Slovenia. His birthday was in November possibly 1872. Ludwig came over to the United States, when he passed away, the body was shipped back to Yugoslavia. Father BOMBACH (not a typo; it has the h on the end) had started St Cyril and Methodius Church in Lorain, Ohio in 1898. I would like to request a further route to origin of Bombac. Thank you for your attention. Thank you.

I am researching the STARASINIC(H) family. My records show Frank STARASINICH was born at Adlesici, Slovenia 25 January 1879. His parents were Ivan STARASINIC and Marija KRALJ, born 15 August 1857 they were possibly married circa 1870. The had 9 children. One of the sisters was born in Podzemel, Slovenia. It seems the children were born in different villages. The next thing I know is that Marija immigrated to the U.S.A. with the children, year unknown. My question is what happened to Ivan STARASINICH, and where was he born? When and where did he die? Thanks for any help.

My grandfather, Franjo SOSTARIC, emigrated from Austria-Hungary. He arrived at the port of New York aboard the vessel "Philadelphia" on 13 October 1905. By the time he applied for naturalization in 1917 the spelling of his name had changed to Frank SHOSTARICK. His naturalization papers state he was born on 13 June 1880 in Croatia, Austria-Hungary. His last foreign residence was Cabar, Austria-Hungary. From 1905 until 23 Aug 1913 when he married my grandmother, Nina Bell USSERY in Wilkinson Co., Georgia, I do not know where his travels took him. Frank had a brother, Antonio (Uncle Tony) SOSTARIC, who also immigrated to this country. Date and time are unknown. They both died and are buried in Dublin, Laurens County, Georgia. I would appreciate any advice on how I might start researching records from Cabar. Thank you for any assistance you can provide. Thanks

STIGLITZ, Robert

(Roman Catholic)

I am seeking family history information ( birth record, marriage record) relating to my paternal grandfather, Matthaus Stiglitz. He was Catholic. He was born in Oberburg (Gornji-Grad), on 5 September 1870 and I assume he was also married there. His oldest son, (Mathias) was born there on 24 September 1895. His oldest daughter, (Gissela) was born in Sachsenfeld (Zalec) on 29 April 1898 and my father (Robert J.) was born in Franz (Vransko) on 7 June 1900. He emigrated to US in 1903, alone. Any and all information / documents would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

TAYLER, Valerie
eMail address: AVT1046@aol.com

I am looking for any information on the SETINA family and the ROZMAN family. My grandfather Louis SETINA (in Slovenia his name would have been Alojsy) was born 29 June 1889. He emmigrated to the United States in the early 1900's. He served his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker in Yugoslavia (or Austria). He had several brothers and sisters and it is believed the family had a large farm. I do not know any more than this and would love some help. My grandmother Theresa ROZMAN was born at Gornje, Pimice, Medova, Yugoslavia on 6 October 1893. Her father's name was Janez ROZMAN and her mother's maiden name was Maria ROBAS. She came to the US in 1910 on the ship "Martha Washington". According to her papers, her last foreign place of residence was Graz, Austria. I would also like any information on the name ROBAS. Thank you.

ULLE, Kurt
eMail address: kurtulle@earthlink.net

(Roman Catholic)

I'm looking for information regarding the ULLE, GAVEDICH, ARNOLD, MRESER, and USCEKER families. John (Johann) ULLE married Maria GAVEDICH and they had the following children, Albin; Karl (Charles), born at Trbvolje 1887; Johanna; and Maria. John was a butcher in the late 1800's and Maria was born at Trbvolje in 1854. They were Roman Catholic. John died before 1913. Maria GAVEDICH had a sister, Antonia HEYTHUN, whom she met up with in Herminie, Pennsylvania. According to the passenger list of the ship "SS Prince Friedrich Wilhelm" of 12 July 1913, Maria (now widowed) and Karl emigrated from Bremen, Germany to New York City. They are listed as coal miners coming from "Tribail Slovenia" and their nationality is Austrian. Maria's siblings also were Joseph and Tonca. Mathias ARNOLD married Anna USCEKER (unsure of the spelling, pronounced "oos-chaker") although her death certificate says her last name was MRESER. Anna was born in 1849 at Trbvolje. Mathias was born August 1860 at Graz Karten, Austria. Mathias and Anna moved to Germany sometime before 1886. Their daughter, Theresa Victoria ARNOLD, was born at Frankfurt in 1902. Karl ULLE married Theresa ARNOLD around 1920 and they lived at Masontown and Herminie, Pennsylvania.

ZORMAN, James
bigjim@clevelandnet.com

I'm having problems getting a handle on exactly where the Zormans came from. After some initial research it would appear that the name is really Austrian as the Zormans in Austria go all the way back to the early seventeeth century. But somewhere around 1800 the name appears in Kranj, Slovenia though the Zorman name isn't listed on any of the slovenian surname registers on the internet. My great grandparents came to the United States (Cleveland, Ohio) around 1870, and settled down in Ely, Minnesota (where he was a church organist and choral director by trade). My grandfather, Charles ZORMAN, was born there in the 1890s. Any information anyone could provide would be much appreciated.
