I am looking for any information on my
grandfather Joe ADAMICH
from Leadville, Colorado. He died in the 1920, I think. My
father is also Joe but is now dead. He was born at Leadville,
Colorado. My grand parents were said to be from Austria. Any
help I would be grateful. Thanks
HARTEL, Edith
eMail address: ehartel@netexpress.net
(Roman Catholic)
We recently obtained old family records of my Grandparents.
Their
names were Johan HARTELJ b.1866 we believe in Yugoslavia. Served
in Austrian Army for 3 years 1888 to 1891. Parents were Mickel
and Mary HARTELJ. Johan married Louisa ZUPANCIC from Novo Mesto.
She was born in 1873, the daughter of Ernest and Nancy ZUPANCIC.
Louisa had 3 brothers, Frank, Louis, Joe birth unknown. 2
sisters, Josephine and Mary Johan and Louisa ZUPANCIC HARTELJ
were married at Rudolfswert (Novo Mesto) in 1903. They
immigrated to the USA in 1904. Both were Catholic. I have a
Church record and Military records that I am unable to translate.
The Church record is from Skofija Ljubljanska, Dioecesis
Labacensis. I also have information on their descendants if any
family members desire and am seeking any information from
HARTELJ, ZUPANCIC related lines.
HARTEL, Theresa
eMail address: rghren@yahoo.com
I am searching for additional
information on my paternal
grandfather, John (probably Johan) HREN, since I only have
limited information on him. I have a copy of his naturalization
certificate (# 203878) issued in Leadville, CO when he became a
US citizen on 4 December 1911. He died in the influenza epidemic
of 1918 and is buried in Leadville, CO. The headstone on his
grave indicated he was born 24 June 1883 at Dobrepoljah, Austria
(which is probably now Slovenia). I also have a copy of his
"Declaration of Intention" for naturalization dated 10 July 1909
and states he was 26 years old, a laborer, white, light
complexion, 5' 8",150 pounds with light hair and blue eyes. This
document states he was born at "Videm", Austria on 24 June 1883
and was residing at 520 Elm Street, Leadville, Colorado. It goes
on to state he immigrated to the US from "Bremen, Germany"
(handwriting not clear) on the vessel "Laher" or "Laker" and
arrived at the port of New York on 20 April 1901. Can anyone tell
me how to determine his actual port of entry together with the
date of entry and ship of transport if the above information is
incorrect? I would also like to obtain a copy of his birth
certificate to allow me to further research his parents.
My paternal grandmothers maiden name
was Franciska (Frances)
MUSTAR. She was born on 9 May 1890 at Dobrepoljah, Yugoslavia
(probably now Slovenia) and I have an official copy of her birth
certificate although I do not have a copy of her naturalization
certificate. Her fathers name was Johan Mustar and her mothers
name was Terezija (Teresa) GORSIC. After her husband John died
in 1918, she eventually moved to Pueblo and married Louis
(Alojzij) KOROSEC. I have a copy of his birth certificate and
also his naturalization certificate (#581142) issued at Pueblo,
Colorado when he became a US citizen 2 October 1916. He was born 23
June 1890 also at Dobrepolje, Yugoslavia. His fathers name
was Anton (Anthony) Korosec and his mothers name was Marija
(Mary) Adamic. I would also like to determine her port of entry
together with the date of entry and ship of transport. My
grandparents had four children, all born in Leadville, Colorado
and their names are Frances Hren, born 17 December 1911; John
Hren (my father), born 10 Feb 1914;, Mary Hren, born 13 December
1915; and Ann Hren born 19 Apr 1918. All four children
eventually moved to Pueblo, Colorado where my brother, sister and
I together with all of my first cousins were born.
HRVATIN, Charles
eMail address: chashrv@hotmail.com
I am interested on any information on
my ancestors of Slovenian
descent. My father Frank HRVATIN and my uncle John HRVATIN are
sons of Frank HRVATIN and Mary FATUR. My grandfather is believed
to be from Vienna and grandmother from Trieste. Frank Jr. was
born 7 January 1915 on the outskirts of Peoria, Illinois.

Joseph SULIGOY, born Slovenia 19 March 1858, died Rockdale, USA,
16 January 1934.
ILENICH, Steven P.
eMail address: ILENICHFAM@aol.com
I am looking for additional
information on the family name
ILENICH. I know that John ILENICH was born in Doblice, Slovenia
on 17 April 1882. His father was Matt ILENICH and his mother was
Annie KLOBUCAR. I am also searching for information on the
family name KASTELIC and OSTERMAN. I know that Katherine
OSTERMAN KASTELIC was born 22 February 1873 in Slovenia and lived
in Calumet Michigan. Her father was Peter OSTERMAN and her
mother was Katherine LUGINA or FUGINA. Thanks
JOEVENAZZO, Syl
eMail address: joevek@telusplanet.net
I am looking for information on my
grandparents and any other
family members still in Slovenia. My grandmother was born 8
May 1902 at Mala Polana and her name was Marija PRSA. She
married my grandfather, Stefan PETEK, son of Marko and Katarina
and they resided at Poljedelavec, Yugoslavia before immigrating
to Canada. My grandfather came in 1927 and my grandmother and
mother in 1933. My grandfather's date of birth was 5 May 1900. The only
information I have is that my grandmother's parents were
Ivan PRSA and Ana MAGDIC PRSA. I would appreciate any
information any one might have.
JOHNS, David
eMail address: ATDJHIKE@aol.com
I am just starting a search of my
paternal grandparents: Alois
JAN, born 3 January 1879 at Trbovlje and my grandmother
Josephine PETSCHNIK (sp?), born 6
April 1877 at Koprivnica. Great
grandparents were: Jakob JAN and Josephine JANESCHILSCH -- and
Joseph PETSCHNIK and ? KOWALSCHIK. My grandparents immigrated to
Germany first and were married there. Circa 1907-1908 my
grandfather immigrated to America, followed by my grandmother
about one year later. My first goal is to learn more about my
great grandparents in Slovenia. Any and all suggestions are
welcomed.
KLEMMER, Catherine
eMail address: Klemmer@btinternet.com
I am researching my mother's family.
My great grandfather was
Josef ZUPANCIC, born 11 March 1869 at Novo Mesto, Slovenia. He
married Theresa JANKO, born 8 October 1874 at Novo Mesto. They
immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio in the early 1900's. Theresa
divorced Josef in the 1920's and after a few years moved back to
Novo Mesto. She died during WW II and was buried in an unmarked
paupers grave (according to my mom). Can anyone help me with
records? I realize that it was a bit disorganized during the war
but I am hopeful that there maybe some chruch record of her, a
death certificate or last known address, maybe even someone that
knew her. Thanks.
I am also researching Frank STRAUS or
STRAUSS born 15 April 1875
in Hoticni, Slovenia. He married Mary TOMSIC (born 4 May 1881 in
Gradisce, Slovenia). They immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1911
aboard the ship "Martha Washington". My problem is that I cannot
trace any previous family on the STRAUS side or the TOMSIC side
of the family. No one remembers the names Frank or Mary's
parents or siblings. Any help with this would be greatly
appreciated.
KRAMER-SCOTT, Ana
eMail address: Akramar53@aol.com
I am interested in any additional
information on John STEBLAJ. He
married Agnes SIVC and they had the following children: 1)
Apolonja (my grandmother) immigrated to Minnesota around
1888-1982 and married Ignatz KRAMAR. 2) Joseph immigrated to
Minnesota -1882-1951, and married Mary RIGLER. 3) Mary married
Frank PONCER and immigrated to Steibly, Pennsylvania in 1869-1949
4) Anton came to Minnesota and never married-1873-1953. 5) Ann
married a DOLENSEK, stayed in Slovenia. 6) John died in his
20's, in Slovenia. 7) Frank came to the US but returned to
Slovenia. 8) Andrew stayed in Slovenia (raised by an aunt?),
married and had daughter, Francesca who married a Rupert. 9)
Andrew died in 1960. I believe that the John that married Agnes
had a brother, Matevz / Matthew who married a Marija and had the
following children: Matevz married Johana ZELEZNIKAR and moved to
Steibly, Pennsylvania. Joze immigrated to Minnesota and married
Frances SEME--1882-1957. Marija immigrated to Minnesota and
married Anton IPAVEC--1884-1961. Johana immigrated to Minnesota
and married Joseph TROST--1892-1970. Martin--stayed in Slovenia
Franceska--married a DOLNICAR in Slovenia. As far as I know,
these families were based in Iska Vas, Slovenia. After
immigrating to the US, it appears those living in Pennsylvania
used the spelling STEIBLY, while those that stayed in Minnesota
used STEBLAY. Would appreciate knowing if John and Matevz were
brothers and if there are any more siblings. Anton OVEN married
Elizabeth GLAVEN in Ljubljana 1910. I am interested in finding
other relatives in Slovenia or the US other than Minnesota.

surname from Crested Butte
or Floresta? My father, John TEZAK was born at Floresta in 1908

of the others was SOLONIVICS. Is there anyway you could help me
with the real spelling or point me in the right direction? I have
no idea of when he came to the USA. I'm hoping this is not a
lost cause. Any help would be greatly appreciated I can be

PINTAR, Boris
eMail address: boris.pintar@mail.ljudmila.org
Many of my older relatives came to USA in the beginning of 20th
century, but we don't have the contact with them any more.
My grandmother, Amalija PINTAR, has exchanged last letters with
them after the Second World War. They were many of brothers and
sisters of my great grand father Anton CADEZ (in Slovene Chadezh)
from Srednja vas (Middle Village) in Poljanska dolina (Poljanska
Valley or Poljane's Valley) in Gorenjska region of Slovenia. Also Anton
Cadez himself came to the USA twice to work as a miner
and them he returned back in Srednja vas. Anton Cadez was a
father of my grand mother. Did you maybe find name Anton Cadez
or the Cadez family from Srednja vas in any of your records?
Thank you for your consideration.

I m seeking more )on the internet) about the origins of my
family. Among the Slovenian names are BERGOCH, BASTIANIC and
ZAFRED. My great grand parents emigrated inland to Sao Paulo
last century. Because Slovenia belonged to Austria, all
their documentation is in German. According to my great
grandfather's document, his name is Thomas BERGOCH and he
was born at Sankt Peter, a German name. My great grandmother,
Tereza BASTIANIC, was born in Vila Slavina. Curious, because I
have never found any records of this name in Slovenia, though I
have found many in the US. I would like better advice on how to
obtain more info about the family and the places they came from.
