I have been working on the family tree from my dad's side of the family for quite some time and have had luck with his mother's side, but no luck with his dad. I am hoping that someone can help me. This is what I know, my grandfather, MICHAEL JURECIC (spelled Juresich/Juresic) in the US came thru Ellis Island in 1899. A year or two later, his sister MARY came to visit him and stayed and married 3 times in the USA. According
to Ellis Island research, my grandfather came here to visit his father, Michael who was in Pennsylvania. I don't know what happened to my Great grandfather as I never knew he was in the US. Also, a Joseph Juricic came to American to visit a brother, ANTON BOGOLIN, who we were told was a half brother to my great grandfather, Michael. Anton told his children that his mother's name was Anni SKOFLANC. I am assuming that this is my great grandmother's name, but I can not find anything. My grandfather is listed as being from Krsko in Slovenia. I am looking for that connection.

Over the past 10 years, or so, I have sent the ARHIV in Ljublanja several hundred dollars for their search efforts and documents for my family research. Research continues and I have not yet confirmed the town/village from which my grandparents came. However I am expecting
another letter from the ARHIV any day now with final confirmation. We have made great progress during the past six months. Corresponding with the ARHIV via mail is a very slow process. Peter Hawlina in Slovenia has been assisting me and making contacts there. The names I am researching: Jozef Povse & Cecilija Zgonc. Children: Leopold Povse, Jurji Povse, Marija Povse. Leopold Povse (Lepo Pouche) recorded
on 1917 Draft Registration Record that he was born in Krsko, Austria/Slovenia. I'd be interested in contacting any members researching
these surnames.

My name is Roger Pozeznik. This is my story and questions. This is what I know. In a nut shell...1903, My grandfather Martin Pozeznik (1883-1979) came to Ottawa , IL to work in the coal mine's with his brother, Johan Pozeznik. They both came from Gornji Grad, Slovenia.
About... 1907-ish Johan Pozeznik was killed in the mines in IL. Martin Pozeznik sent for his sister Helena Pozeznik with the insurance money. Helena married and lived in WI. 1909-ish Martin Pozeznik wanted out of the mining business and went to Hesperia, MI and farmed. Had three
children Mary, Anna, and my father, Martin Jr. Pozeznik now 91 yrs old. My father Martin Jr. had three children Diana, Fred, and me Roger Pozeznik (43). My sister has two girls and my brother has two girls and one boy and I have none. No Other Pozeznik's in USA or the world as far as I know. Until... 2003 I Googled Pozeznik and found to my surprise, Janko Pozeznik (47) of Slovenia! He was on a roster of international referee's for the sport of Team Handball. His father lives in Gornji Grad, Slovenia on a farm. We must be related?? 2004, I go to Athens to meet and watch Janko Pozeznik referee in the Olympic Games. We meet for the first time as he is leaving the handball court after refereeing a game. After the games I go to Slovenia for the first time. I meet his mother and father who is now 79. Janko has a brother and sister. Janko is married and has two girls. I think maybe our great grand fathers were brothers? So here I am... I am trying to find documentation on the death of my grandfathers brother who was killed in the mines in IL. and trace back to see how we are related to Janko. Thank you for listening and any help you may provide.
