Village: Reps (German); Rupea (Romanian); Kohalom (Hungarian) HERMANN: I am seeking information about my grandfather, Karl (Charles)'s (1889-1986) family, who were from the present day town of Rupea. He immigrated to the USA in 1906 with his brother, Daniel, Jr., and father, Daniel, Sr. My great-grandfather returned to his homeland a year later and, I'm told either died and/or is buried at Brasov (Kronstadt). I do not know any dates for him.
LUTCH: Daniel, Sr., a tanner, was married at least three times - only his second wife is known by name to me: Regina LUTCH or LUTSCH She remarried a man named Andrew AIRDELE and moved to Bucharest where she died circa 1900.
WEINHOLDT: I am told that my great-grandfather may have had a sister who married someone named WEINHOLDT who ran a beer garden in Reps circa 1900.

Germany

Towns and respective surnames (German spellings of towns):
Hatzfeld, Romanian Banat: QUINT, NEIDENBACH, MARTIN
Heufeld, Yugosl. Banat: LINDENMAYER

The QUINT line is almost complete back to about 1750. I should take time and have a look at the church registers, which are on microfilm in the library of Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen Stuttgart. I also have in my database the HEPP and the KOLBUS family from Hatzfeld, to whom I am related. The data for these families are originally from the ancestor trees made by Johann HEPP (died a few years ago, Santa Ana, California).

RAABE, BARBARA
eMail address: raabe@aol.com

My grandfather, Charles Louis KOENIG was born in Funfkirchen (Pecs), Hungary on 15 October 1865. His father had escaped there from Wurzburg, Bavaria probably during the 1848 revolution. I'm in the process of looking through the Roman Catholic church records at the LDS library for his baptismal records. I have now ordered records from all 7 catholic churches in Funfkirchen. Is there any way to narrow down the church that the ethnic Germans may have attended?
