- Trans-Ural (Asian) Russia (7 maps total - 3 on this index)
Note: The first 11 maps of European Russia are from the same 1882 Atlas -
Comprehensive Atlas and Geography of the World by Blackie and Sons of Edinburg,
Scotland (CA&GW), The first 11 of these are at a scale of 1:6,100,000 or 1 inch =
approximately 96 miles.
The 12th map, of the Polish provinces of the Russian Empire (The Russian partition of
Poland) is from a different atlas - Century Dictionary and Cyclopaedic Atlas
(CD&CA) dated 1902 and at a scale of 1:5,128,200 or 1 inch = 80.9 miles.
The 13th thru the 15th maps below are of Trans-Ural (Asian) Russia. They are at a scale of
1:12,672,000 or 1 inch = about 200 miles and are from the CA&GW Atlas (Blackie & Sons).
All maps are now framed with a title, scale and a download link for text browsers.
Russian Empire - Europe
Asian Russian Maps...While a separate index has been prepared for Siberia and Asian Russia,
those regions closest to the European part of the Russian Empire were scanned first and are
still available here. While the scale on these maps is not great -- one inch = about 200 miles
-- they are from the same 1882 Blackie and Sons 1882 Atlas. All things considered, it is a
reasonable scale considering the small number of towns and cities and the great distances
between them.
The balance of Asian Russia (about 3.0 Megs total including this map) has been scanned and
is found in the Asian Russia Index
