BEERLI, John Anton
eMail address: RBeerli@aol.com
I am researching and also trying to locate any living relatives
of the BEERLI family I believe still live at St. Gallen,
Switzerland. My grandfather, Otto Oscar BEERLI, was born at St.
Gallen in 1888, the son of Johann BEERLI. I believe Otto was
the only member of his family to leave Switzerland to immigrate
to England at that time, and that would be approximately
1905.
My grandmother's name was Bessie Violet Seward STUHLDREER. Her
father, my great grandfather, was Anton Henry Reinhard
STUHLDREER. Otto Oscar BEERLI and Bessie STUHLDREER were married
at London, England 1 June 1913 (he at 26 years of age and she at
23). My grandfather set up a bakers / confectioners business in
Well Street, Hackney, South East London in 1913. He had 5
children: Eric John Decar BEERLE born and died 4 June 1919;
Eleanor BEERLI, born and died 6 July 1921; Violet BEERLI born and
died 6 July 1921, (he and these three of the children are buried
at Abney Park Cemetery London), Paul Otto BEERLI (my father) born
1914 at Hackney South East London and died 30 November 1982 at
Fordyce, Scotland; Derek BEERLI born about 1925 and died around
1985. Otto Oscar BEERLE died in 1945, aged 59. I understand my
father visited his relatives at St. Gallen in 1950. I have an
old photograph in my possession showing my father with his cousin
Rosie. Any information would be appreciated.
Webmaster's Note: Since your grandfather bore a Germanic
ssurname and was a baker/ confectioner in England, it is quite
possible he was consideraded a "sugar baker" there and thus more
informaton may well exist on him in the records of the AGFHS
(Anglo-German Family History Society) of London England, a member
of FEEFHS - see their page on this web portal at http://feefhs.org/uk/frgagfhs.html. You should contact Peter or Jennie Towey for
more information and you may find it financially advantageous to
join that organization to obtain the information you seek.

My maternal grandmother was born Francis Marguerite BAUMGARTNER
at Langnau, Switzerland in 1884 and died at Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil in 1962. She had two brothers and eight sisters. Her
married name was GIBBONS. On the BAUMGARTNER side my great
grandparents were: Hans Karl BAUMGARTNER - born and died at
Langnau (dates unknown). Emma Huegli BAUMGARTNER - born at Vevey,
Switzerland; died at Zurich (dates unknown). My great-great
Grandparents were: Heinrich Johann BAUMGARTNER - born at Langnau;
died at Andermatt, Switzerland (dates unknown), Klara Mueller
BAUMGARTNER - born at Zurich; died at Langnau (dates unknown). I
am trying to trace any existing relatives.
CELLIER III, Alfred

I am researching regarding my grandfather, Alfred CELLIER, born
17 December 1870 at Neuchatel, Switzerland and sailed aboard the
ship "Champagne" from La Havre, France on 15 March 1870 and
arrived at New York ten days later. He was active in the Swiss
Rifle Club and worked with Antoine Borel & Co. There is some
evidence of a family relationship with the BOREL family. He
married Margaret RYAN of Virginia City, Nevada at San Francisco
in 1899 and they had two children. My father Alfred Jr. was born
in 1901 and Yvonne born in 1904. They separated around
1910-1912. He built a house in Berkeley at 1607 Posen Avenue
where he lived until his death on 3 November 1943. I would
appreciate any information on this Swiss connection's forebears
and relatives, and on the Swiss Rifle Club.

I am looking for information on Magdalena (Margaret) LUCHSINGER.
I believe her parents were David and Anna LUCHSINGER. She had a
sister, Ursule, who immigrated to Minnesota before her and
married a Mr. MEYER. Margaret married Henri MEYER at St. Petric
Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1905. Their children
were Vera born in 1911, Heinrich, David, Carl and Gloria (born
about 1930). Ursule brought Margaret to Minnesota after their
brother, David, was killed in a rockslide in Switzerland.
Margaret was arranged to marry Heinrick MEYER immediately upon
arrival to Minnesota. Any help would be appreciated.

Venanzio, and Celeste. Guiseppe FRANSCIONI was born 19 March
1828 at Lodano, Canton Ticino and died 3 July 1896 at Lodano.

information lists Addolorato DEBERUS (unsure of spelling) as
second wife, born 16 March 1837 and died 3 December 1906, married
4 July 1880. The children were born between 1854 and 1875. At
least four of the sons immigrated to the Salinas Valley in
California, USA. Any information would be appreciated.

Godfrey AURNAUGHER (AMACHER, AMACKER) came from Bern, Switzerland
He was born there in 1826. I believe his father's given name
could have been Joseph or Josef. Also I believe he had brothers
Christopher and Godlow. He had a sister Margaret. He is believed
to have immigrated to Pennsylvania, then Ohio before settling in
Michigan. Godfrey married Elizabeth HUFFMAN after his arrival in
the United States. Any information will be helpful.

I am researching HESKER, Daniel and his wife Mary (she maybe a
KINDLER). They emigrated from Switzerland to America in 1851,
leaving behind 4 children so the story goes. Mary gave birth
while on the ship to Mattie HESKER in 1851. Then they had 2 more
sons while living in Williams county, Ohio. Fredrick William
HESKER was born 4 March 1854 and Daniel Amos HESKER was born 11
November 1856. They moved to Iowa for about a year before
settling in Laclede county, Missouri in 1878-1879. I do not know
the name of the ship they came over on and have searched the
ships list with no luck. Family lore goes they traveled from the
Rhine River. Thank you.

I am looking for help in researching a family name in Fribourg,
Switzerland. I was given some information that my
great-great-grandmother and great-great-grandfather were married
in this
area. My great-great-grandmother was a Marie C. MOSES, born 26
April 1857. She married a Heinrick KOMMEL, born 1853. I would
like to get dates and information to see if they lived there
before immigrating to the USA in 1883-1884. They apparently had
two children who died before they immigrated to the US. Any help
would be appreciated.

My immigrant ancestor, Isaac FREVEL (there are alternate
spellings of FRAVEL, and FROVEL, but the name might originally
have been FR=D6BEL), immigrated to America, arrived in the USA
about 1730-1750 along with two sons, Moses FREVEL and Henry
FREVEL; his wife (name unknown) and daughter, Mary FREVEL are
said to have died during the passage. Isaac FREVEL is said to
have been born about 1705. Family tradition says they came from
Switzerland. Isaac and Henry FREVEL went to Woodstock, Virginia,
where Henry spent the rest of his life. Moses FREVEL went first
to North Carolina before settling in Pennsylvania, where Isaac
FREVEL then also moved; they are both said to have died in
Pennsylvania. LDS has a FREVEL at Rheinfelden, Aargau as well as
at Bussnang, Thurgau in the late 1700s. I am trying to link the
surname FREVEL to a canton and community / parish in Switzerland
so that I can research the ancestry further. Further
information, leads would be much appreciated.
SOLDANELS-OBERG, Suzee

eMail address: suzees@yahoo.com
The SOLDANELS family at Kansas City, Missouri is seeking the
genealogy of our great-grandfather, Joseph SOLDANELS. His surname
is sometimes shown as SOLDAN on old papers. He is believed to be
Protestant and was born about 1826 at Sils, Canton Grisons. His
parents, Gian SOLDANELS and Anna CRIALASCH, were probably born
prior to 1800, Gian in Switzerland and Anna either in Italy or
France. At least three of their children, Joseph, John (born in
1819), and Peter or Pierre, when grown, left and immigrated to
Missouri, in 1851-1852, via Le Havre through the Port of New
Orleans. Another brother, Andreas, immigrated to Australia
leaving a wife and child behind at that time. Both Joseph and
John were listed as "confectioners" which may have been a family
business. According to court depositions, they were each given a
sizeable amount of money to take with them which was considered
to be their portion of any inheritances. Joseph is thought to
have died sometime before 1881 while in Switzerland and is
believed buried at either Zurich or Lucerne.

Nicholas MUFFLY was born about 1707 at Zweisimmen, Canton Bern,
Switzerland. He immigrated to America aboard the ship "Wilhelm"
from Rotterdam, arriving at Philadelphia 31 October 1737. I am
curious to know if anyone has done research in Switzerland as to
whom his parents were and if he had brothers and sisters. I would
also like to know something of the culture in those times, what
type of work they did at this time, and reasons for leaving. It
would also be nice to know if he had any relatives that had come
before or after. I know that he married a Miss WYANT and she
bore four children, the first being Peter who is my direct
ancestor. I will be happy to exchange any information that I
have. I wonder if there are any existing wills and probate
records in Switzerland. Maybe someone can answer my
questions.
SWOVICK, Lisa LUCHSINGER
eMail address: tswovic1@rochester.rr.com
(Roman Catholic ?)
I am researching my branch of the LUCHSINGERS in Switzerland. My
great-great-great-grandfather, Adam LUCHSINGER (born 16 August
1830 in Switzerland, died 11 January 1896 at Rochester, New York)
and his wife, Christina Dorethea LEMPERT (born July 1823 or 1829
in Switzerland, died 26 December 1902 at Rochester, New York).
They emigrated from Switzerland to America in 1866. They had a
son, Mathias, born 7 June 1856. He did not come to the United
States until 1876. I am trying to find the parents of Adam and
Christina and a town in Switzerland where they lived (most likely
the canton of Glarus). I am also trying to find out who took care
of Mathias while his parents were traveling and living here. I
believe that they were Catholics, but I am not sure. That is the
religion that my grandfather practiced. Christina had a brother
Bernard. He also immigrated to Rochester, New York and then went
on to Ohio. I do have a possible link to Adam's father, but this
is pure speculation. There was an Adam LUCHSINGER, born in 1804,
who died in an avalanche in 1836 at Muehlebach. If he were my
Adam's father, he would've been 26 at the time of his birth, so
the dates make it a possibility. My Adam would've been 6 at the
time of his father's (?) death. If this were my Adam's father,
then his mother would've been Anna STRUB of Schwanden. His
brother would've been Peter LUCHSINGER in Spicher. If the Adam
LUCHSINGER (who died in the avalanche) was my
great-great-great-great-grandfather, then my Adam would've had a
brother named
Peter who died on 8 August 1854 as a soldier in Naples. My
grteat-great-grandfather, Mathias LUCHSINGER, married Catherine
SCHNEIDER (born 1857, died 1886), from Alsace Lorraine. It is
believed that they married before coming to the US. She had two
siblings, George (born 1852, died 1918), and Julia (born 1864,
died 1920). Julia married a Simon BARTHELMANN (born 1860, died
?). Does anyone know of any of these people and connections
between them?

I'm looking for information about my great-grand father (the
father of my grandmother ) who came from Zurich, Switzerland in
1880 to Savador, Bahia, Brazil where he married my great
grandmother. The name of his parents were Karl August Philipp
Jacob Adolph MACK and Hulda EGLI. He was born at Affoltern on 11
November 1856. He had a brother named Gustav Adolph MACK born 20
November 1889 and lived at Oestheim, Bayern. Karl MACK later
married Suzanna PFENNINGER.

I believe I've traced our immigrant ancestor, Jacob DELLECHAUX or
DELACHAUX to Gilly, Canton Vaud, Switzerland to a Jean Jaques
DELACHAUX and Danielle DELAPERRANIA, whose son Jean Etienne
DELACHAUX was baptized 2 August 1681. He married Pernette ROLAZ,
and their son, Jean Nicolas DELACHAUX or DELLECHAUX, was baptized
25 August 1714, also at Gilly. The son of Jean Nicolas
DELLECHAUX was a blacksmith and immigrated with his brother from
London to Nova Scotia in 1748 - he was Jaques Francois
DELLECHAUX, baptized 5 May 1745 at London, England. I believe
this is the same man as our immigrant ancestor, Jacob DELLECHAUX,
blacksmith of New Bordeaux, 96 District, South Carolina, a
Huguenot settlement. The ship "St. Peter" was going to Nova
Scotia in 1768, but was forced to land in Charleston, South
Carolina. The passengers refused to reboard the ship and received
land in the upcountry of South Carolina, now McCormick county,
South Carolina. I have spent 18 years compiling the descendants
of this Jaques / Jacob DELLECHAUX and his wife Sarah Elizabeth
ROBERSON (the widow BRITT). In America the surname is spelled
DILLASHAW, DILLESHAW and DELASHAW. Please contact me if you
would like to share information on this family.

I am interested in finding information concerning Samuel SCHWAB,
born about 30 October 1796 Switzerland; died 30 April 1873 at
Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio, USA. There is a possibility that
he was raised Lutheran. Samuel married Elizabeth ? , born in
Switzerland; died 30 November 1884 at Findlay, Hancock county,
Ohio, USA. It is possible that he immigrated to America around
1850-1851 (not known for sure), and settled at Findlay, Hancock
county, Ohio, USA. There were seven sons born to Samuel and his
wife Elizabeth. Theeir children were: Adolf SCHWAB, born about
1825 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland; died in Switzerland and
is buried there. It is not known whether he married or not;
Samuel SCHWAB, Jr., born 1827 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland.
Samuel, Jr. married Elizabeth ZELLER, possible marriage date
between 1846-1849, possibly at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland.
She was born in Switzerland and died in 1888 at Findlay, Hancock
county, Ohio, USA. There were 7 children born to this union all
of them were possibly born in Switzerland. It is possible that he
did not immigrate to America until around 1864. Abraham SCHWAB
born 1831 probably at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland; died 1911
at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. He married Mary M. ?, unknown
date, place unknown. Mary M. was born 10 April 1836 possibly
in France; died 27 February 1910 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio
There were 8 children born to this union, all in Ohio. I have a
date on their fourth child: Louise Whilelmina SCHWAB, born 6
October 1854 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Abraham was
confirmed German Lutheran.
Gottlieb SCHWAB born October 1832 at Basil, Canton Bern,
Switzerland; died 26 August 1905 at Findlay, Hancock county,
Ohio. He married Phoebe FETZER in 1878, at Findlay, Hancock
county, Ohio. She was born in 1838, place unknown and died 24
October 1909 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. There were 6
children born to this union. Alexander SCHWAB (my
great-great-grandfather), born 1 January 1837 at Basil, Canton
Bern,
Switzerland, died 14 January 1913 at Greenfield, Adair county,
Iowa. He married Helen Maria STUBBS 19 March 1859 in Twin Grove
Township, Lee county, Iowa. Helen was born in 1842 in the state
of Maine; died 30 January 1930 in Greenfield, Adair county, Iowa.
There were seven children born to this union. John Frederick
SCHWAB, born 12 June 1839 at Basil, Canton Bern, Switzerland;
died 15 April 1859 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio. He never
married. Jacob SCHWAB, born 1841 at Basil, Canton Bern,
Switzerland, died 1909 at North Baltimore, Wood county, Ohio. He
married Fannie BRODT in 1871 at Findlay, Hancock county, Ohio.
Fannie was born 30 November 1848 and died 2 July 1933 at North
