I just returned from Split, Croatia with their telephone directory, which is a great resource to check for family names in the region. The book covers an enormous geographical area from south of Sibenik to north of Dubrovnik, and includes the islands of Vis, Solta, Brac and Hvar. There are only 21 books for the entire country, so each covers a large area.

If your family name still exists in the, city, town or village odds are that you are related. A simple letter may open the door for your research. I will gladly do telephone book look-ups for anyone trying to connect to a family from the region. Be sure to include the name of the town, village or city.
