I am looking for my grandmother's relatives who were born with this address on her birth certificate: Resanice c.46, okr. Horazdovice- 26 May 1898 in Czechoslovakia. Her name was Anna PANUSKOVA (on her birth certificate). Her father's name was Jan PANUSKA and her mother was Marie SROUBOVA. She immigrated 17 March 1914 from Breman Germany to Ellis Island, USA. She resided at New York City until her death in 1971. She was married to Frank CIZEK and had a baby girl Mary.

I am new on computers and hope you will help me. Frank SMRCINA was born December 1845 and married in 1868 in Bohemia to Mary CHUNAT or CUNOT. She was born in 1850 and her parents were Frank & Mary CUNOT. They immigrated to the US in 1869. Mary Cunot also had 2 brothers in the US: Joseph, born, 1853 and John born in 1858; maybe came to the US at the same time? Veronica CHAPEK or CAPEK was born in 1829? Her parents were Joseph and Veronika Chapek. Veronika was born in 1829 at Hurkey and married about 1860 (maybe at Hurky ?) to Vitek David, born 1825 at Velechvin. They had children born at Hurky / Lisov and immigrated to the US in 1882-1897. Could this be Veronika's brother - John Chapek, borm 1811 at Domain Trebone Cesky Budiovi who immigrated to America in 1869? I wish to find the families in the Czech Republic that correspond with the DAVID, SMRCINA, CUNOT and / or CHAPEK persons mentioned above. Thanks.

My grandfather, Andrew CIZEK, born in 1867 at Dralovice, immigrated to the U.S. in 1884. He had four brothers, Joseph; Robert, born 1880; James, born 1882; Albert Joseph, born 1886; and Charles, born 1890; and one sister, Mary, born 1883. They all followed him to the states (USA). Andrew, Joseph, Albert, settled in Nebraska. James settled at Oakland, California; Charles settled at Klamath Falls, Oregon; Mary settled at Omaha, Nebraska. Two siblings, Margaret and Frank, remained in Czechoslovakia and cared for the younger children until they were of an age to come to the U.S. My great-grandparents were Joseph and Margaret VOGLTANC CIZEK. Margaret Vogltanc was born at Hluboke Domaslic. They lived at Dralovice. I visited the Czech Republic in 1994, the town (now Skuhrov Dralovice), and a cemetary at Liten. There was a tombstone of a Joseph Cizek in that cemetary with the names Katerina and Marie. Margaret Cizek preceeded Joseph in death. There was no tombstone for her in that cemetary. I have a photograph of the tombstone with inscriptions. I would like to be in contact with other descendants, know more about the family who remained in Czechoslovakia, what they faced in the 1860's-1900's.

GREGOR, Joyce D.
email address: Joycesmail1974@home.com

I'm searching for information on Stefan (Steve) GREGOR (born about 1875) from Banka, Czechoslovakia who immigrated to America about 1900. About 1905 he brought his wife Eva, his young son Gustav, his mother Anna, his brother John, and his sister Susie to America. About 1923 he brought his second wife Emera Gaspar and her sister Erma Gaspar. Any info on his Czechoslovakian family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am looking for information on my family. The records here in the USA were very poor, 100 years ago, so I only have approximations. The best I can determine is that Martin VITEK was born at Ratibor, Czech Republic around 1848. He also had a brother Tomas that was one year older. I have heard he had two other brothers too, but I don't have any information on them. He married Anna SLACIK in 1868 at Vsetin. They had one child, Jon VITEK (possibly Josef too) before they immigrated to America in 1871. They arrived at New York, and then went to Texas. Anna SLACIK was born at Vsetin in September 1854. I apologize for the inaccuracy of this information, but I hope you can help me solve the mystery of my missing family. Thank you in advance.

KUSHMA, Jason M.

My grandfather Michael Andrew KUSHMA was the second generation of his family to immigrate to the United States. I know that his mother spoke Czech and that he was bi-lingual. My grandfather started his family at Youngstown, Ohio. He lived there much of the time he was in the United States. He served this country in the Korean War and received a purple heart. He passed away in 1990, I think. He was married to a Dorothy ? KUSHMA. He later had my father Don KUSHMA (born 1954). Don got married to (Linda REED, now Linda REED KUSHMA (born 1958) and they had me (Jason KUSHMA (born 1979), and a daughter, Megan KUSHMA (born 1981). I live near Cincinnati, Ohio. Our original surname was KUZMA, and I think they changed it to KUSHMA because it sounded "more American". They did this a couple of generations ago. I have a beautiful family, a wonderful wife (Aarrica KUSHMA, born 1979), a great daughter (Ava KUSHMA, born 1999) and I'm a twenty-two year old Videoagrapher and VP of marketing support with a company called Intrascope (out of Cincinnati). I'm interested in other stories or family members that I could get some information on. If you could send me any follow up information or reports or anything just e-mail me. If you have any information via "snail mail" you can mail it to my postal address. Thank You.Mbr>

I'm new to geneology web sites, so I don't know what to include. These are the only dates I have and I'm not really sure of all of the information. Michael STEFANISN was born 15 November 1877 in the village of Vyskovce at Saris, Czechoslovakia. He was in the calvary, but left to avoid fighting (supposedly his own people). I'm not sure when he immigrated and arrived in the US. He arrived through the port of New York and was sent to live with the SKUBON family in Pennsylvania. The SKUBON family moved to Cleveland, so Michael went to live with an aunt, Julia SHOULTER, at Marblehead, Ohio. He eventually began working in the quarry at Kelley's Island, Ohio. He married Anna MALENKI on 9 July 1903 in a Greek Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Anna had immigrated from Austria-Hungary and also knew the SKUBONs. Anna's sister Mary MALENKI later married a SKUBON. Anna and Michael lived on Kelley's Island and had 4 children there (Anna - married a LAKATOS, born 1904; Peter, born 1906; Helen - married Peter PRETKO, [born 1907]; and Michael Joseph, [born 1909, died 1990]). They then moved to Cleveland where Michael delivered water and cleaned stables for the city; he may have joined the Teamsters. Anna was a midwife. In Cleveland, they had 4 more children (Mary, born 1912; Emma - married Robert HEINRICH, born 1915, died 1999; Jane - married Andy BALLA, born 1917; and John, born 1923). Michael died at Cleveland in 1945 and Anna died at Cleveland on 7 April 1955. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you help me? I'm trying to find if CERESNIK is a proper Slavic surname. I have been trying to find my grandfather's record for coming into the United States through Ellis Island, but after he came to the U.S., he changed his last name to CHERRY. He is now deceased. I can't find any Joseph or Josef Ceresnik in the immigration records. My mother is sure his original last name was Ceresnik. He was born in 1890 and immigrated the U.S. through Germany to Ellis Island in 1909, at which time he was about 19 years old. My mother believes he was born, and probably lived in Joskovejsa, Czechoslovakia. Please eMail any response to me at Schantz2001@home.com. Thank you for any help you can offer. Maybe we're just a little off on the spelling of the last name.

SMITHSON, Tom

I am trying to find the family of Joseph ZYKA, born about 1844, whose daughter, Anna Zyka CHLEBECEK, born about 1869, was my maternal great-grandmother. Anna and her children immigrated to the United States in 1898 aboard the ship "Furst Bismarck", landing aat the port of New York 19 August 1898. I do not know the maiden or given name of Joseph Zyka's wife. I believe that Anna and her husband, Tomas Chlebecek (who died in a coal mining accident about 1892) must have been something other than Roman Catholic, according to family oral history. They (Tomas and Anna) lived on Frantiskanska Street at Plzen before his death and her immigration. I have a photograph of Joseph Zyka and his wife to compare to photos any family members or descendants may have.

VALLONE, Marianne

Albert H. DUSEK was born 12 February 1850. I believe he was born in Austria, and may have immigrated to the United States when he was about 6 years old. He arrived at the port of in New York. The odd thing is, his death certificate states that he was born in Iowa. He may have married a lady by the name of C.? SMITH prior to 1890. They had two children: Albert Harry DUSEK, born 4 November 1892 and Raducio? (unknown spelling) changed later to Russell Ray DUSEK (unsure of birthdate, but within two years of Albert Harry's birth. The 1900 U.S. Federal Census shows him living in Sonoma county, California. We have found other spellings of his name -- DUSICK and DUSCHEK. We have yet to determine the given name of his wife. C. SMITH was listed in one of his children's birth certificates, but we have not been able to obtain any documentation of her birth, marriage, death or burial in California. It's believed that she emigrated from Switzerland. I would really appreciate any help that someone may be able to provide to me. Sincerely.
