I am researching my family tree and I have lost a Gertrude
PRIMMER, born 1879 at Hampshire England. Either her or her
daughter is reputed to have married a high ranking German
officer and they are said to have lived at Berlin. They visited
England in 1964 so both were alive then. The daughters name was
Freda von MANTEUFELL wether this is her maiden name or married
name I am not sure. Freda wrote a letter home in 1978 / 1979 and
said she was all alone now and my elderly relative was unable to
conact her after that. I have found a German officer who could
fit, as he died at the right time. His name is Hasso von
MANTEUFELL. He won the Knights Cross and commanded Panzer
Divisions. He died in Austria. How do I find out who he married
and who his parents were? Help gratfully recieved. An 88 year
old relative would like the mystery solved.
BARLOG, John A.
eMail address: golrab@webtv.net
I have tried several sources and encountered a run around from
Berlin officials - they mail a new address to get information
from who in turn do likewise. 1. John N. BARLOG, my father, was
born in Berlin 16 May 1884 and died on Long Island, New York in
1963. His parents names were Sigmon BARLOG, who died in 1887, and
his mother was Francis HOFFMAN BARLOG, who died in 1897. 2.
Siblings of this family all surnames are Anton BARLOG, John
BARLOG's sibling, a master tailor who lived at Solms Strasse.
This information comes from 1959 and 1960 Berlin telephone books.
This sibling Anton died in 1960. I met Anton in 1945 while on
occupation duty in Berlin. This is the Kreusberg section of
Berlin. Czelaw BARLOG - he lved in the district in Berlin known
as Rudow. I met him also in 1945. I know nothing else about
him other than he is a sibling of John. Stanislaus BARLOG -
listed in a Berlin phone book as living at Solms Strasse
(Kreusberg sector of Berlin), also was a sibling of John BARLOG,
and he is now deceased. Leon BARLOG - I have no information on
him other than in 1959 he is listed as living in
the Wanasee sector at 43 Bismark Strasse and in the 1960 edition
he shared the same address as Stanislaus at Solms Strasse 12. He
is a possible sibling of Johns, or possibly Czelaw's son returned
after internment in Russia as a P.O.W. Some P.O.W.'S in
Russia spent 10 years or more there. Casimira BARLOG - A sibling
of John BARLOG. I have no information about this individual
except a cousin in Canada told me that she was a member of
this family. I also believe she was Boleslaw BARLOG'S mother
She possibly gave birth in Breslau (now Wroclaw, Poland) in
1906. A possible first cousin was Boleslaw BARLOG, an impresario
of the arts and theater in Berlin. In 1945 he restored the
legitimate theater. He was a well known patron of the theater in
Berlin; also a scholar, having written several books. There are
many references to him on the web. He was born Brestau (sic,
Breslau) in 1906 and died 17 March 1999 at 92 . He was married to
Helga she still resides in Berlin although very ill. Wladgya, a
sibling, lived at Boston, Massachuesetts. She married a Roman
PIEKARSKI and died in the 1950'S. They had two children,
Victoria PIEKARSKI and Peter PIEKARSKI, all deceased. There was
another line of BARLOGS they may have had grandparents that were
brothers making them second cousins. Wladislaus S. BARLOG was a
cartoonist for the newspapers, and his brother was Stanislaw
BARLOG. On Wladislaus's baptism certificate are several names:
Marianne BARLOG, Sophie BARLOG and a HOFFMANN. My problem is how
do I verify these findings when there is an uncooperative source
or a answer to search at another address?

I am looking for any information on the name of NOWECK (with the
possible variants of NOWECK, NOWEK, NOVECK, NORWECK, NORVECK; and
the given name of either Adam or Gottfried. Gottfried was born
on 28 January 1860; Adam was born on 22 March 1864 in West
Prussia, possibly somewhere in the Danzig corridor. They
emigrated to the U.S. (Baltimore, Maryland) in the late 1800's
(e.g., 1882, 1886, or 1887).

I am searching for information on my maternal grandfather,
Paul Frederick KUETER, born 1 August 1885 at Berlin, Germany
to Fredrick KUETER and Johanna NUERBERG KUETER. The family
emigrated to the Kewanee, Illinois area in the United States
in approximately 1896 or 1897. I think he had a sister, Anna
oe Ella KUETER. My grandfather was an Evangelical Lutheran,
but all KUETERS in America I have found so far are Catholic,
so I'm trying to discern if there is any link between the
two. Any information on any of these persons, please contact
me.

I am looking for the family of Edmond (Edward) Seymond APITZ,
born 1883 at Berlin, Germany. I'm also looking for his brother
Bud APITZ. I have a picture of both Edmond and Bud, taken about
1912-1913. They are last found at Sand Point, Bonner county,
Idaho on 6 November 1909. I have his marriage license to a Edna
B. LUCE. Thank you for any help on this family. Edmond Seymond
APITZ is my husband's grandfather.

This is what I know: The family name is MALLY. The fathers
name could have been Otto, Paul, Albert, or Alfred. The
mothers name was Marie TOPP. They emigrated from Berlin, I
believe, in 1875 because their son had his second birthday on the
ship. The sons name was Otto Paul and he was born on 1 March
1873 at Berlin. His father was in the guard unit to Kaiser
Wilhelm and he left Berlin so his son would not have to do the
same. They came to Appleton, Wisconsin after their arrival, and
then on to Oakland, Calofornia, where the father worked in a
lumber mill. They died at Oakland and are buried near there.
The son, Otto Paul MALLY, married a Charlotte THOMAS in May,
1899. He died in March 1935, she in 1956. I would like to know
how to find a passenger list even though I don't know the name of
the ship, where they arrived in the US, why they went to
Wisconsin and some information about their lives and family in
Berlin. Hoping someone can help me. Thanks.

I am searching for Reinholdt LEMKE born at Berlin, Germany
about 1849-1850. He emmigrated to from Berlin to America by way
of its Stettin seaport on the ship "Humboldt" on 21 September 21,
1872. (I have the passenger list.) He came to the USA through
New York. He met and married Louisa DOLL (from Alsace) about
1877. They lived at New York City until 1880-1882. Reinholdt
bought some Federal land in Southern Colorado. They lived in Del
Norte, Colorado until his death 8 January 1898. Louisa and
Reinholdt had six children: Carl A., Camelia Augusta Louise,
Augusta, Emma, Reynold and Matilda.
Reinholdt had a brother, Charles LEMKE. Charles was born May
1846. He never married, and he was alive as of 1920 at
Alamosa, Colorado. He immigrated to the USA in 1864, and was
naturalized as a US citizen in 1879. I wish to find out more
information about the lineage of Reinholdt and Charles in
Germany.

I am looking for information on the PFEIL family from Treptow
(Berlin). Wilhelm PFEIL was born 20 August 1827 and married
Sophia Maria KEUP (also known as Sophia Seine GALLIN) was born 18
February 1827. Wilhelm was born at Borghorst. They had Mathilda
PFEIL (TRAUT), Albertina PFEIL (BUTZLAFF), and Herman Ferdianand
PFEIL. Herman was born 30 January 1861 and married Amelia BUEGE
or BEICH of Bornholm, Denmark. They had Robert Ferdinand, Otto
Albert, Ernest August, Olga, Minnette, and Tressa. They
immigrated to Wisconsin, USA around 1894. I would like to know

I am researching Wilhelmenia SHOOK (born 1844 Berlin,
Germany). She and her sisters (I believe one of her sisters is
named "Dora") immigrated to America in June 1871. She and her
sisters settled in Lucas county, Toledo, Ohio, where Wilhelmenia
SHOOK met and married John Jacob HOLZAPFEL (born 1850)
Alsace-Lorraine, though it states "Prussia" according to his
"Certificate of Intention to Become a Citizen") I have not yet
been able to find Wilhelmenia's immigration papers. Family lore
also said that Wilhelmenia and her husband traveled on the same
boat to America, but however, did not meet until they had both
lived in Lucas county, Toledo, Ohio. They had four children in
Ohio named Louis HOLZAPFEL (male), Dora HOLZAPFEL (female), John
HOLZAPFEL (male) and Frederick Ernest HOLZAPFEL (male, born
26 June 1881 in Butler county, Hamilton, Ohio). This family
traveled to Davidson county, Nashville, Tennessee where they
finally settled. Wilhelmenia and her sisters were noted for
their sewing talents and it is said they brought fine material
from Germany when they came to America. She was described as
being a very petite/small woman. I'll gladly share any
information I have on this family and would appreciate any
help from someone researching the same family. Thanks so
much

I request your assistance in looking for information about
relatives with our common surname MANGELSDORFF with roots in
Germany. Alternate MANGELSDORF surname. Herman MANGELSDORFF
(born August 1848, died April 1920 from Pankow / Berlin emigrated
from Hamburg in 1881 on the ship "Westphalia". He arrived at New
York City, NY on 29 September 1881. The ship record had Herrm
MANGELDORF V.40, p.237 Germans to America His
wife and children came soon after from Hamburg. Waldine
KETTNER MANGELSDORFF (born December 1850, died December 1900 from
Berlin emmigrated from Hamburg in 1881 on the ship "Wieland". She
arrived at New York City, NY on 16 December 1881. She was
accompanied by children: Max Frederick MANGELSDORFF (born March
1874, died August 1942) and Martha MANGELSDORFF (born Novmber
1879, died February 1980). The ship record had Marthe MANGELDORF
V.41,p.162 Germans to America. Any assistance or details
for earlier MANGELSDORFF family members (who were probably
Evangelical Lutherans from the Berlin and Pankow areas) would
be appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.

My great great grandfather was Frederik PESSARRA. In a Berlin
directory prior to 1880 he is listed as living at N. Arcona Plag
(or Plaz) 3. His wife's name was Louise Auguste TROST. She was
born in 1812. They had approximately 16 children and had come
from the Masuren Lake Region in East Prussia, from the town of
Lotzen / Loetzen. One son, Carl Constantine Frederick PESSARRA,
immigrated to America in 1869. Another son, Theodore PESSARRA,
immigrated with his family to America in December 1880.
Frederick is my great grandfather. What I'd like to find out is
when Frederik Pessarra died and where he is buried, as well as
his date of birth. Can someone tell me where I might be able to
acquire that information?

The information I am searching for concerns a Johan and
Johanna ROOK or ROOKS. Johan ROOK was born around 1853 at
Berlin, Germany and married a Johanna (sorry, no maiden name
available but I would appreciate any help here), around 1870
in Valmiera, Latvia. These dates are only a deduction from the
birth dates of their children; Fridrihs, Anna, Aleks, Marija,
Karl, Minna, Teodors, Elizebete and Edmons. At age 75, Johan
ROOKS became a 7th Day Adventist from formerly having been a
(Evangelic) Lutheran. As yet, I have not checked any records
through the Adventist Church in Latvia or Germany. Johan ROOKS
did have three (3) brothers; Edis? (possibly Edmons), Constantine
and Jekabs. His wife, Johanna, (from the skant information I
have) is believed to have been born in Denmark. If anyone could
furnish further information on names, places, dates, for either
Johan or Johanna, I would be very appreciative.

I am searching for information on two German families - MULLER
and WALLRAFF who were in Berlin definitely from 1860 onwards. The
MULLER family consisted of Fritz, Johanna, Marianne and Richard
William Charles. I believe the religion of the family was
Lutheran. Their parents are unknown to me.
Richard was born on 28 February 1876 in Berlin and immigrated to
South Australia in 1895 on the vessel "SS Hohenstaufen". He moved
to Western Australia and stayed there until his death 03 July,
1943. Fritz was 11 years older than Richard and Johanna was 9
years older than him. Marianne was in between. Johanna married
Rudolf WALLRAFF and they had 3 children, Werner, Lores and
Gisela. Rudolf died in 02 January 1896 of a brain hemorrhage
leaving Johanna and her sister Marianne to raise the children.
Johanna purchased a "pension" immediately at 5 Schiffbauerdam,
Berlin. Johanna and Marianne then moved somewhere between 1899
and 1915 to a new address, Monbijouplatz 10, 2nd floor. Marianne
died on 01 February 1939 and Johanna died approximately 1940.
Their last address was Mullerstrasse 15-16, Berlin, which was an
aged care home by the name of Dr. Friedrich Wilhelm
Kube-Siftung.
