I have been searching for years for a family in the old town of
Reetz, Brandenburg, Germany, this Reetz was close to Arnswald,
Germany. The family I am looking for is SCHLEUSNER. My great-
grandmother was born in Reetz, her name was Albertine Wilhelmine
SCHLEUSNER. Eventually she married Carl Ferdinand ANDRAE, who
came from Griefenburg. Albertine had a brother who also
immigrated and sailed with Albertine (Schleusner) Andrae and her
husband and two daughters in 1855 to America. They eventually
settled at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. William Schleusner, would be my
great uncle, in America at the age of about 45 (born about 1818)
he enlisted in the 3rd. Wisconsin Cavalry in 1863, he was wounded
in about 1864 and eventually ended up and died in the Veterans
Home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1879 (at and age of about 61).
While he was in Prussia he was a member of the Prussian Cavalry
and at one time spent some time in the hospital at Frankfort,
Germany. I tend to believe he came from a military background
family in Prussia. Before World War I, a cousin of my
grandfather, William Henry ANDRAE (a son of Carl Ferdinand
ANDRAE) visited Milwaukee and the Allis Chalmers Mfg. Plant. He
also visited with my grandfather, William Henry ANDRAE. This
cousin indicated he was on the staff of General Bismark back in
Prussia and asked William if he would allow his two sons to go
back to Germany with him and he would assure them that they would
become officers in the Germany army. My Grandfather refused. I
have traced the Andrae family back to 1750 and find no Military
ties in Germany, therefore I assume the cousin was from the
Schleusner family, but I cannot prove this. At the same time in
history there was an Andrae gentleman living at Arnswald who
carried some prestige in the community; somehow there is a tie.
I would be interested in writing to someone in Germany who might
be able to look up some old records of the Schleusner family.
Thank you.

I am searching for any information of my German ancestors,
births, christenings, marriages and deaths. They lived in
Gerswalde, Prussia in the 18th and 19th century. Their names
are: Johann Gottleib LAESSIG: date of birth, marriage and death
unknown; name of wife unknown. His son was: Carl August LAESSIG.
Date of birth unknown. He died before 1856. He married Johanna
Charlotte HAENSCH , 8th August 1824, Gerswalde. Johanna
Charlotte HAENSCH was born 19th March 1801, Gerswalde. The
children of Carl August LAESSIG and Johanna Charlotte HAENSCH
were: Johanna Wilhelmine LAESSIG: born circa 1825 at Gerswalde.
Johanna married twice. Husband 1), was BECHLY, marriage date
unknown. There may be children born in Gerswalde for this first
marriage. Husband 2) was Carl Ludwig Ernest DAU, born December
1821 at New Roppien. They married 7 November 1858 at Potzlow.
Augusta Wilhelmina Albertina LAESSIG, born 22 December 1827 at
Gerswalde. She married circa 1860 to Christian Albert Frederick
William Carl WISSMANN, born 4 December 1839 at Kronhorst, near
Gerswalde. Two children at least, were born to them at
Gerswalde. Ferdinand Friedrich Wilhelm LAESSIG, born 2 August
1833 at Gerswalde. He married Wilhelmine Dorothea JAHNKE, born
circa 1833; place of birth, Potzlow. They married at the
Evangelischen Kirchengemeinde Gerswalde on 4 May 1856. Their six
children were born at Gerswalde, survived and immigrated with
them to Australia. There may be others who died in Gerswalde.
There were probably more children of Carl August LAESSIG and
Johanna HAENSCH than the three I have listed. The three children
that I have listed all migrated with their families to Queensland
Australia, and I am one of the descendants of them. There
are many descendants here who are interested in their German
ancestors, and would like to know more about them. Johanna
immigrated to Australia in 1871 with her husband. Augusta DAU
immigrated in 1871 with her husband WISSMANN and 2 children, and
Ferdinand and his wife Wilhelmine JAHNKE, with 6 children
immigrated to Australia in 1874. I am the
great-great-granddaughter of Johann Gottleib LAESSIG. Any help
will be
appreciated.

My great grandmother Margaret Elizabeth KRUPP was born at Essen,
Germany 1 September 1861. She married Henry STOLTZ, they
immigrated to the U.S.A. and they moved to Winters, Texas, then

William Julius ROHLOFF, born 18 September 1855 in Prussia,
Germany; baptised October 1855 and he was confirmed on 10 April
1870. He immigrated in 1880 to Ottawa county, Ohio. He returned
to Germany in 1922 via Bremen from Ellis Island, New York. He
was living at Trowbridge, Ottawa county, Ohio. Father was Fred
(probably Frederick) ROHLOFF born Prussia, Germany. He married
14 November 1880 in Ottawa county Ohio to Augusta SIEVERT, born
17 June 1856 at Schwachenwalde, Germany. She immigrated to
America in 1862 with her mother, Christina Fietta SIEVERT (or
FRIEMARK). Her father was John Sievertand mother was Christina
FIETTA. Her siblings were William Friemark, Gust Sievert and
Mrs. Fred RIFE. William and Augusta had 5 children : Otto,
Frederick, Minnie, Louise and William. He (they?) had a friend
in Berlin by the name of Herman SCHLOW in 1941. Aunt Clara and
Uncle Hermann sent a doll to Marjorie HETRICK (granddaughter of
above) on 31 December 1949 from Berline Vankolln. I am trying to
determine exact location they came from and any living relatives
in these areas and where they would have emigrated from in
Germany to U.S.

I am searching for the town of Luptow, Germany. My
great-Grandfather, Carl Frederick KURTH (Karl Frederick KURHT)
emigrated from Luptow Germany to the US in 1881 by the shipline
of Main from Bremen to Southampton to New York, arriving 22
October 1881. With him was his wife, Fredericke (Freda
(nee GORN) Kurth and several children, one of which is my
grandmother, Selma. Carl was born 18 March 1850 according to his
obit in Luptow, Germany. He married Fredericka Gorn 30 August
1874 and he died 28 August 1918 at Lena, Illinois. Freda was
born 21 April 1850 at Stettin according to her obit and died at
Lena, Illinois 23 March 1932. There is a possibility that Carl's
father's name was Ludwig (nothing concrete on this) and the
possibility that Freda's father's name was Frederick Gorn. On
one family record it says Carl and Fredia came from Lapana, Prov
of Pomerania but I can't seem to locate that town either. First
I need to find Luptow, Germany (Prussia?) so that I can find and
write to that town for other records on the Gorn and Kurth
(Kurht) families. His cemetery stone says KURHT. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.
