(Protestant?)

I am seeking information about Wilhelm CREAMER and his ancestors. He was born 1782-1786 in Hannover, germany (not sure if it was the province or the city) and immigrated to the United States of America in 1806. Wilhelm married Barbara Ellen CLARY at Muskingum county, Ohio in 1824 and he died in Vnton county, Ohio in 1868. How do I research ancestors who came from this region? Their religion is not known, but is presumed to be Protestant. 1806 is not a common time period of immigration from Germany to the United States. Could his immigration to the United States have anything to do with the napoleonic wars?

Dora KLEITSCH was my great grandmother on my mother's paternal side. She was born in Hannover in either 1863 or 1870 and died 21 April 1903. I believe she probably died in Basel, Switzerland. I remember my grandfather saying she was 33 when she died, but we show the other dates. She married a William THON, who was also from Germany (possibly Hannover as well), born in 1860 and who died in 1928. He was a traveling salesman in the oil business and traveled all over the world. I am uncertain of their religion, but know my mother's great grandfather on her maternal side was Jewish, but from Marseilles, France. I know of three children from Dora and William, probably all as German citizens: Frederick August THON, (born 1893) Magdalena THON- who erroneously is listed at Basel as having died as an infant (quite incorrect as she lived In the USA until the 1970's and has a son living there still) and Elizabeth who remained in either Switzerland or Germany. I have no information regarding my ancestors prior to these two great grandparents and would so appreciate any information anyone might find. Thank you very much.
