I am looking for information on Adam DILLER and Elizabeth
BERGE before they appear on the 1850 Federal Census for Bruce
Township, (now Streator), La Salle county, Illinois. Adam DILLER
was born 14 March 1822 in Hannover, Saxony, Germany and he died
15 August 1885 in Otter Creek Township, (now South Streator), La
Salle county, Illinois. His wife, Elizabeth BERGE was born
about 27 June 1824 in Mecklenburg, Germany and died 9 July
1869 in Otter Creek Township, La Salle county, Illinois.
The history of "La Salle County, Illinois" states that Adam
and Elizabeth BERGE DILLER came to America in the 1840's. I am
looking for the ship and port where they arrived. Did they
lived somewhere else before coming to Otter Creek? I need any
information that would lead back to their home in Germany. I
believe that Adam could have had a sister named Barbara. Adam
was married two more times after Elizabeth's death. His wifes
were Fredericka ISERMAN who was born about 18 September 1827
at Hanovic, Hessclaste, Germany and died 12 February 1875 in
Otter Creek, Illinois. He then married Caroline KRITZMAN /
KITSMAN who was born in September of 1848 in Prussia. Caroline
immigrated to American in 1874.
Adam and Elizabeth's children were: Frederick, Charles, Dorethea,
Augusta, Elizabeth (Leah) Cora, Caroline, Mary "May" E, Emmaline
R, Emma, William, George, Clara E., Fred R., Charlotte A. and
Adam Henri. Adam and Caroline's children were: Adam E., Edward
C., Ada, and Elmer. Adam DILLER belonged to the German
Evangelical Church and was known for saving up his money and
sending for a family member or friend to come to America. They
would then work on his farm to pay him back and he would again
send for someone else. He did this throughout his life. Any
help would be greatly appreciated in finding Adam and Elizabeth
BERGE DILLER's home and family.

I am looking for information on my great-grandmother's family
who came from Hanover, Germany. The name is Frederic
REECAMPER born about 1821 and his wife Angeline WHITE (?) Some
time between 1822 and 1850 they immigrated to the Toledo Ohio USA
area along with two other women whom I presume to be their
mothers, Mary (Angeline ?) REECAMPER and Angeline HARRINGSMAN
along with Henry LUCIAN, their farm hand. There appears to be
very little information on any REECAMPERS on the internet so I
have very little information other than this. When they came to
Ohio, they were farmers. Any information would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

I am looking to find information on the relatives and birthplace
in Hannover Province of a great-great grandfather Heinrich
MESSERSCHMIDT and his wife Louise. Henrich and his wife Louise
or Louisa emigrated from Hannover in 1867 from Bremen
on the ship "Deutschland" arriving at the Port of New York 30
December 1867. The passenger list for the Deutschland was
published in Germans to America, List of passengers
arriving in U.S. Port, Volume 20, August 1867-May 1868, p.
278-279. Heinrich is listed as Heinr, 30 years of age, a
male and his occupation being that of a farmer. Louise his wife
was 29 years old, female and occupation unknown. The Province
code was "H" which is the code for Hannover Province. Heinrich
MESSERSCHMIDT and Louise were listed in the United States 1870
Census living at Loran, Stephenson county, Illinois. The couple
was living with August VOLKER who had a 2 year old son Andreas.
August was a farmer. His wife Anna BREIDENTHAL had died in 1867.
This couple may have been relatives to Heinrich or Louise
Messerschmidt. Louise's maiden name is unknown. On 27 March 1873
at Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois, August VOLKER testified
on Heinrich's behalf when he became a naturalized citizen of the
United States. Heinrich now becomes known as Henry
MESSERSCHMIDT. He was born 13 June 1837. In various United
States Censuses he gives his birthplace as Hannover. About 1876
he moved from Illinois to Franklin and Hardin counties, Iowa. He
lived in Osceola Township, Franklin county and at Ackerly, Hardin
county, Iowa. In 1888 he moved to Eden Township, Codington
county, South Dakota where he farmed. Henry died 1 December 1908
at Dexter, Codington county, South Dakota. Henry had at least
four children by Louise. He married a second time to Luise (also
known as Lizzie) LEITRITZ OR LEITERITZ of Centerville,
Trempealeau county, Wisconsin on 27 February 1880 at Freeport,
Stephenson county, Illinois at the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Henry and Lizzie had 11 children. I am looking for the birthplace
and family ancestry of Heinrich, the date of his first marriage
to Louise. Any information would be very much appreciated. Thank
you.

I am researching the surname KLOHSS. All I know is the
following: Charles KLOHSS of Hanover was the father of
Josephine KLOHSS, born in Belgium 1821, married in England 1841
to William HEMINGS, on the marriage certificate.
Charles KLOHSS is recorded as a Merchant. Many Thanks

SCHACHT, born at Eilvese, (near Neustadt an der Rubenberge,

York, USA 5 June 1889. She was married to my great-grandfather,
Albert REIMELS. Thank you.

Johann Heinrich / John Henry KAASE, his wife, Maria / Mary C.
(unknown maiden name), and his mother Anna immigrated to America
in August 1865 from Hannover. John was born 6 April 1832,
Hannover. Mary was born 27 July 1832, Germany. Both were
Lutherans. They settled originally in Cuyahoga County Ohio,
then moved to Sebastian County, Arkansas, just south of Fort
Smith. John was a truck gardener - growing vegetables for sale.
Filby's Passenger and Immigration Lists Index notes a
Johann KAAS with family, coming to America from Kreise Merzig in
1865. Where was the KAASE family from originally? Any help
appreciated!

My great, great grandfather Johan Clemens FELD was born in
Hannover. Hannover, the city or (??) das Konigreich Hannover. A
mystery like other mysteries. He was born 6 September 1828 to
Bernard FELD and Catherine HEUAR, and may have had a sister named
Helena Maria, one of the witnesses at his 7 December 1858 wedding
to Mariana SCHONHOFF (of Lengerich) at St. Louis, Missouri. This
couple "removed" to Quincy, Illinois during the summer of 1865.
And now, back to the search.

My husband Bill's great grandfather immigrated to the United
States in 1866 (according to the 1900 Federal census of
Minnesota), and states he was born April 1845 in Hannover,
Germany. He was naturalized October, 1867 at Shakopee,
Minnesota and stated he came from Prussia. His naturalization
paper has his name as HEINRICK FIEDELDEI (he signed it Henry
FIEDELDEI). He died as Henry FIDELDY at Hector, Minnesota and
all his descendants use that spelling. In 1872 Henry married
Helene RENNEBERG. Her brothers' and sisters' names are on on the
marriage license and Catholic Church baptism records of their
children born at New Market, Minnesota. There are no other
FIDELDEI names found in these types of family records so
we think Henry came to the United States alone. We want to know
who Henry's family was and where they lived in Hannover. We also
would like to know what ship he sailed on and where he arrived
in America. We suspect Bremen was the port of departure, but
possibly Hamburg. Thank you.

I am looking for information on the Adam HEISEL family. Adam
was born between 1809-1813 and his wife Catherine was born about
1813, both in Hannover? Hesse Darstatt?? Germany. They had four
daughters, Catherine, Elizabeth, Philippina and Anna. Their
daughter Catherine married my great-grandfather in St. Clair
county Illinois 7 April 1859. Their marriage license spells the
surname HEISEL (HAUSSEL).

(Ernst, Matilda, Henrietta, Eliza) before leaving Germany -
Bremerhaven, 27 June 1846, iummigrating to Australia
(Port Adelaide, South Australia) where they had a further six
more children. I am also told that Georg's father was a
Professor of Music and a teacher at a University in Hannover. I

Lautenthal. Any information of help will be very much
appreciated.

I understand my great-grandmother Doras SCHRADER, born 27 October
1836 in Hannover. She immigrated to the US sometime before 1860.
She met and married Andrew FEUCHTENBERGER (born 17 October 1836
in Bavaria) on 7 June 1860 at Winchester Virginia. Later lived
and died in Harrisonburg Virginia. I understand that the
SCHRADER / SCHRAEDER may been spelled differently before coming
to the US. I have no information on her family, parents,
siblings, etc. I would appreciate info on her family.

find any information on his parents and siblings. I have his
father as John KLARE of Hanover, Germany and his mother only

My great grandfather, UTERMOEHLEN Louis, born in Hannover
Germany 8 December 1842, and my great grandmother, MUMME,
or MUNNE, or MUMMA, Doretta was born in October 1850 in
Hannover. My grandfather, UTERMOEHLEN Theodore, was born in
Hannover 19 March 1869. They left Germany from Bremen on 1 July
1870 and arrived in the port of Baltimore, Maryland USA on 19
July 1870 according to my great grandfather's Naturalization
Paper. My grandfather, Theodore, would have been approximately
16 months old at that time. The Naturalization Paper stated he
denounced the King of Hannover and the Emperor of Germany which I
believe would have been Prussia, Germany. I am trying to find
where in Hannover the UTERMOEHLEN family lived and perhaps, who
Louis or Doretta's parents were. I know there was a Louis
UTERMOEHLEN who emigrated to the USA who lived at Goetingen but
this "was not" the same Louis as that Louis came to the USA at a
later time and did not settle in Dayton, Ohio. They lived at
Springfield, Ohio for a short time after their immigration and
settled in Dayton, Ohio. I would be very appreciative of any
information regarding my above request. Thank you.

My grandfather, Otto Frederick RICHTER (born 16 August 1864 at ?,
Germany; died 7 December 1908 at Memphis, Tennessee) immigrated
to the USA as a teenager to avoid military service. One story
says that he took the money given him for his tuition at military
school to pay for passage to the United States, and that his
mother never forgave him. Our search to learn his birthplace in
Germany has been futile. According to my mother, Otto came to
Memphis, Tennessee because the PALM family, which lived in his
village, had a son who had immigrated to Memphis. We believe
Otto lived with the family of Gustavus Adolphus PALM (born 11
July 1839 at ?, Prussia; died 27 January 1917 at Memphis,
Tennessee) when he reached Memphis. When Otto died, G. A. PALM
was appointed administrator of his estate. I found G. A. PALM
and a brother ?, C. H. PALM, in the 1854 Hamburg Passenger Lists.
Their birthplace (Geburtsort) was Celle, and, written in smaller
letters below, Hannover. I assume this is the province of
Hannover. Any information about RICHTER or PALM families near
Celle would be greatly appreciated. Given on Mr. PALM's
death certificate, the name of his father was Randolph PALM. My
grandfather's death certificate gave his father's name as "Gus"
RICHTER, either Gustav or August, I think. We have old
photographs of my grandfather's mother, brother and two sisters,
of which three pictures were made at Magdeburg or Gardelegen. My
cousin says that the RICHTER family were "Junkers" so the
location of these photographers may reflect moves from military
posts. One photo of the older brother is in a Hussar uniform. I
am certain that the PALMs and RICHTERs were Protestant. G. A.
PALM belonged to the Presbyterian Church (Calvinist) in Memphis.
Mr. PALM served in the 9th Mississippi Infantry during the
American Civil War, and was a Confederate hero. I will be glad
to send this story to anyone interested.

I am looking for any infromation on Elizabeth (ANGER)
CUNNINGHAM. She is my great-grandmother. She was born 24 March
1866 in Hannover Germany to August ANGER and Christianna
MEYER (?). She immigrated, arriving in America (New York City,
New York) in 1886. I was told by an aunt that her family was
wealthy and that they disowned her because she married my
great-grandfather, Lawrence CUNNINGHAM (they married 26 July,
1892 at New York City, New York), who was African American. They
lived in the Bronx, New York at 726 Cortlandt Avenue for sixty
four years. Elizabeth died there 10 March 1952 at the age
of eighty six years old. I do not know whether or not she had
any sisters or brothers. All of the information that I have I
got from her death and marriage certificates. On her death
certificate, the informant had listed Karl ANGER and Maria
MEYER as her parents (could they be relatives?). On her
marriage certificate she listed August ANGER and Christianna
MEYER as her parents. Any information or guidance that you can
give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am trying to find relative Augustus William HARTMANN. He was
born in April 1818 in Hannover Germany. I am trying to find any
record of his birth and who his parents were. Augustus
immigrated to Australia around 1848, although I haven't found any
immigration records as yet. He married a Matilda SMITH an in
Australia in 1861. Augustus died in 1901 aged 83 and is
buried in a cemetery in New South Wales, Australia in the
Church of England section, so I believe he was not a Roman
Catholic. His wife Matilda was from England I am trying to find
any German relatives of Augustus William HARTMANN and a record of
his birth. Any help on this or where to look would be most
appreciated. Thankyou

Christian REINECKE was born, I assume, between 1815 and 1840,
based on his known brother Wilhelm's own birthdate (Please see
details on Wilhelm and his progeny which will follow what is
known of Christian). Parents of Christian and Wilhelm
REINECKE or any other siblings to them are unknown to me.
Christian REINECKE resided at Haverbeck, near Hameln, Province
of Hannover, Germany, but where he was born I can not say,
neither where it is he died, though I assume it was Haverbeck.
This "resided Haverbeck" is referenced in a letter dated
1927 from Germany and to my grandfather, Otto Charles Louis
REINECKE, son of the Wilhelm referenced above (and detailed
in paragraphs below). It was written to him by Christian's son,
Karl REINECKE, Otto's 1st cousin in Germany. Otto REINECKE,
nephew to Christian REINECKE, was born 22 March 1851 in Celle,
Hannover, Germany, so this area of Hannover may prove important
to Christian's own history. The letter just referenced informed
that Christian REINECKE had at least two children: the Karl who
wrote the letter and his twin sister Minna, but the wife to
Christian was not given a name. Both Karl and Minna were alive
at the time this letter was written. It is not known if Minna
married, as the letter does not contain information beyond her
name. The letter informed that Karl REINECKE married in 1897,
name of wife unknown, but two children are known of the union and
mentioned ... Gustav REINECKE and Emma REINECKE . Of Gustav it
says he "went through WW I" which I assume meant he served in
that war and survived. Karl further mentioned one grandchild
... but neglected to mention which of his children, Gustav or
Emma, produced this progeny so there is a chance this grandson
does not carry the surname REINECKE. This Grandson to Karl
REINECKE mentioned in the letter had no forename but was alive in
1927; The letter is ambiguous and wording reflects that this
grandson may actually have been born the year the letter was
written.
Regarding my relationship to Christian REINECKE above
detailed. Christian's brother is my direct ancestor ... his name
was Wilhelm REINECKE, he was a Colonel, serving in the Franco
Prussian War, I assume, based on the helmet in my family's
possession. Col. Wilhelm REINECKE has known birthdate of 22
December 1824 and married Elise SHULTZ (born 26 December 1832
Hoya, Germany). The death dates and places for both are unknown
to me. Wilhelm REINECKE and Elise SHULTZ produced among others
Otto Charles Louis REINECKE. Otto was born 22 Mar 1851
Celle, Hannover, Germany, emmigrated to America 1868,
naturalized 1872, died 1928 and is buried Glenwood Cemetery,
Washington DC. My father, who knew his grandfather Otto
REINECKE until Otto's death, wrote "Otto Charles Louis
REINECKE had two sisters and one brother as follows 1) Anna,
married Neil WIDTH, a Swede, no Children 2) Agnes, half
sister, married Albert NOISEL, a German. No children. 3)
William Jr. Married, but no children". How it is that Agnes is
a half sister is not known to me. I know of no other marriages
for either Elise or Wilhelm, but that certainly does not
discount their existence, as Otto wrote a detailed
autobiography near his death ... but it is largely about his
own life situation, which included world wide travel, and did
not reference his birth family or wife and children in any
detail at all. Thank you

I am searching for information on Heinrich (or Henry) EWALD /
EVOLD, birth around 1833. He immigrated to the USA (New Jersey)
by 1860 and became a Union Soldier in the Civil War. He was

at St. Louis, Missouri. On 20 June 1848 he signed the

I'm looking for the specific death dates of two of my
grandparents, Adolph and Gertrude WEINLAUB, hoping that the most
direct route to the information is through their burial sites,
and/or headstones. Both were Jewish. Adolph was born at Gratz
Posen, Germany 5 February 1863, and died in Hannover, circa 1932.
Gertrude nee BLUMENTHAL, was born 14 July 1874, place unknown,
and died sometime in 1933 also in Hannover. Having lived most of
their lives in Hannover, they built a successful business there
called the Oppenheimer Company, which specialized in luxury
bedding items, including eiderdown quilts and pillows. It was
confiscated by the Nazis, we believe, in 1934. They had two
sons, Willie and Kurt. Kurt was my father. I'm hoping that
either through their gravesites, or on the off chance that their
obituaries still exist, I'll be able to find their specific death
dates. So, any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
