I am looking for information about the family of Henry August
NIEMANN that lived in Hannover, Germany in the middle 1800's. He
was born to Christopher and Dora NIEMANN on 24 August 1831 and
lived there until 1854. He later married Kate MEYER on 21
December 1861. She was born to Christ and Kate MEYER. All lived
in Hannover, Germany. I don't know whether Henry and Dora were
married in Germany or America, as she immigrated to America in
1861. I would very much like to find out about the two families
in Hannover, Germany. Could you help me? Thank you.

HAVERBECK, Gustav was born May 1855. His father was Albert
HAVERBECK1, but his mother is unknown. Gustav had two known
sisters. Anna HAVERBECK and Doretha HAVERBECK. They were
Evangelisch. Gustav lived in the Old Duchy of Luneburger
southeast of the City of Luneburg and near to Hameln. He
immigrated to the United States from Bremen, sailing on the ship
"Mosel", arriving at New York City on 9 November 1878. Gustav
HAVERBECK married Katharina Metta NISSEN on 3 February 1880 in
the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford at Stamford
Connecticut. I am trying to find the town of Gustav's birth and
more family. Any information would be wonderful.

I am attempting to verify / obtain additional information for
parents of Elizabeth WITTE, born 26 September 1840 in Hannover.
I have her parents as Heinrich WITTE and Maria REUSSER.
Elizabeth married Ferdinand DIECKHAUS from Oldenburg at
Dutzow, Missouri 23 November 1858. I would like to know if
Elizabeth had any siblings and if there is any other information
about her parents. Thank you.

I am trying to locate information on the SCHMALSTICH surname,
(specifically Heinrich, Diedrich, or Friedrich SCHMALSTICH), born
about 1840, and residing in the Hannover area (Verdon). He
immigrated to the US about 1853 (via the port of New York) and
settled at Newark, New Jersey. I hHave traced a SCHMALSTICH
family in Newark, but there is no direct link for Henry (a
cousin, perhaps?). I don't know who he immigrated with, or if he
was alone. Heinrich (later, Henry) SCHMALSTICH married a second
wife named Anna Maria SCHAUWECKER. He resided at Brooklyn, NY
(Ralph Avenue). He is my maternal great grandfather. Family
lore has it that he was a hunchback, a gilder (carriages,
frames), and a wealthy man. He died in 1911 at Brooklyn and is
buried in The Evergreens Cemetery at Brooklyn, New York. The
death record for Heinrich SCHMALSTICH lists his father as
Laurence SCHMALSTICH, mother Sophia ELFTON (ELSTON, other
spellings possible). Both were born in Germany, according to
this record.
He and Anna Maria Schauwecker had 4 children: Harry SCHAUWECKER,
Mathilda SCHAUWECKER, Anna Maria SCHAUWECKER, and Alice Henriette
SCHAUWECKER. Anna Maria SCHAUWECKER was either born or
innoculated at Worms, Germany, about 1845. She died at Brooklyn,
New York 1915, and is buried in The Evergreens Cemetery. I
believe she immigrated separately from Henry SCHMALSTICH, and
that they met and married in the US. All of their children were
born in New York. Any information or ideas to pursue information
on this line are greatly appreciated.

My great grandfather, Wilhelm (Diedrich Heinrich) SCHMAEDEKE
(SCHMADEKE), immigrated to the US, (year not known), and lived at
San Francisco. He was a tavern owner. Diedrich Heinrich
"Wilhelm" SCHMAEDEKE was born 20 September 1841 at Heemsen,
Hanover to Johann Heinrich Nicholas SCHMAEDEKE and Marie
Margaretha Kathrine SCHMAEDEKE (a different family line).
Johanna Helena LAHUSEN was born 21 February 1844 at Lienen (near
Elsfleth, Oldenberg) to Johann Berend LAHUSEN and Charlotte
Christine SCHWANEWEDEL. I have no marriage date for this couple.
Supposedly Johanna immigrated to the US in 1860 as a poor maid
servant. Wilhelm and Johanna married in San Francisco 13 June
1869. She had previously been married to Herrman BRUNING and had
two children. No informayion on this marriage. Wilhelm had an
Uncle who emigrated to Illinois and died there in 1894. He
married Christine HATESAUL in 1836 in Germany. I would like to
find some family of the Uncle, but do not know the County he died
in. On my great-grandfather, I would like to find when he left
Germany, as my grandmother once told me " he ran away from the
flag". I would love to hear from anyone researching these names.
Thank you

My great grandmother was Doretta EDEBOHLS, born about 1850 in
Germany. Her brother, Christopher EDEBOHLS, was born about 1852
in Germany. Her father was Christopher EDEBOHLS, born 27 August
1825 in Hannover. Her mother was Mary JAHNKE (spelling ?), born
1831 in Germany. The family appears to have i,,igrated to New
York around the late 1850's. I believe the family was Lutheran.
We have looked for records at Debstedt and other outlying areas
without success, and am hoping for some help in locating family
records around Hannover. I have not found emigration records or
ship passenger records either. Thank you.

I am researching a family tale that states a SHOULTS came over to
England with George II of Hanover as part of the royal household
and this SHOULTS had a military role. I have no date and cannot
rely on the tale at all, but I have located extensive records in
England to assist me in my quest. I descend from this SHOULTS
through my mother, whose father was Leonard SHOULTS (1912-1978).
We also have a "tale" that SHOULTS came from Kurland, so perhaps
he was a Swedish mercenary in the pay of the Hanoverian army
which is very unlikely! This SHOULTS family were carpenters and
builders in London and the earliest SHOULTS we find there
is Peter Christopher SHOULTS (marriage to Eleanor WHITE) St.
Clements Danes Church, Westminster 31 July 1727. Coincidentally,
this year was that of George II's accession.

I have recently found that my great-great-grandfather and his
wife came from Hanover. His name was Louis Christian MAX, born
1829 and his wife, Charolette TROEGER, born about 1829. The
first events that I have located in the United States was the
birth of there son Charles Max in South Carolina. They later
moved to San Jose, California. The family legend goes that he
was Burgermeister and possible that the name was Maxmillion
originally. Any idea or information how to trace this family
would be welcome. Thanks.

I am researching the family of Christian BARTELS, born 20
February 1786 at Klein Ilsede. He married Dorothy PAES 4 March
1818. Their son, Heinrich BARTELS, born 20 February 1820,
married Ilse Marie MEYER. Two children of this couple came to
America. They were Heinrich BARTELS; and Malwine BARTELS, born 5
January 1866. Malwine married Gottlieb LOKAN and lived in New
Jersey. Heinrich married Anna Louisa ANGERSTEIN and settled in
Delaware.

I am looking for information relting to the IMBUSCH family from
Ostendorf, Bremervorde, Hannover Region. Johann Hinrich IMBUSCH
born at Ostendorf, Bremervorde, was the father of Diderich
IMBUSCH, who married Elisabeth WITTEN at Bremervorde in 1782 (her
father was Johann WITTEN of Ostendorf). They were the parents of
Johann Hinrich IMBUSCH (born 1784) who married Margaretha TIETJEN
(born 1783) in about 1808 / 1809 (her parents were Lutje TIETJEN
and Becke Alheit SCHLOBOM (the widow RINGEN). Lutje's father was
Claus TITJE of Rade and Becke father was Johan Hinrich SCHLOBOM
of Ostendorf).

I am trying to ascertain two things. The first: if anyone has
any information on the BRUNHAVER family, specifically John
BRUNHAVER (this may be an American spelling) from Hannover. The
information I have is that John was born in 1846. According to
the 1920 U.S. Federal Census in Hannover he immigrated to the
U.S. in 1865 and became a citizen of the U.S. in 1870. He died
at Los Angles, California in 1922. I am trying to locate his
civil birth registration. Could someone direct me to where I
might find a microfilm copy of the civil registration for
this period? Thank you,

I am looking to confirm some information (Birth dates, voyage
dates, full given / middle names of each person--including the
children, etc.) of each of the people listed below. Also, I am
seeking information on any possible living relatives in Germany.
Specifically, I would be looking for information on Augustus
KEISTER and Wilhelmina GOGLEMANN. Augustus was born in Hannover,
and his parents were Christian KEISTER and Hannah SHAVER. His
parents lived and died at Leithurst, Germany. Augustus was born
13 February 1814, and emingrated with Wilhelmina and their five
children (August, Jane, Fred, Hannah, Caroline) in May 1856 from
Bremerhaven, Germany bound for New York City on the ship
"Alfred". They arrived in New York City after six weeks and four
days. Also, Augustus had two brothers and one sister whom I have
no information on (I need full names, aand noth birth and death
dates). Additionally, I am seeking information on Wilhelmina
GOGLEMANN (his wife) who was also born in Hannover around 1824,
her three sisters (full names, birth and death dates) and any
information about her parents (full names, birth and death
dates).

In the 1861 & 1871 British Census my great-great-grandfather,
Charles SIEBERT (SEIBERT), said he was a musician born in
Hanover, Germany in about 1834. His wife was Martha SHADBOLT,
born in 1836 at London, England. In 1861 they had three
daughters and one son. In 1871 they had 4 daughters, but the
son Charles, born about 1860, was not mentioned. Charles died
before the 1881 Census and does not appear to have been
naturalized. I would like to know who his parents were and where
he was born as Hanover could be the city or district
(province).

I am searching for the following information, which I believe
should be in the records of the Lutheran church at Neustadt am
Rubenberge and/or at Rodewald, Hannover, Germany. Some might
possibly be at the Hagen church: Birthdate for Johann Christian
DEGENER, his father's name was Heinrich Christian DEGENER who was
supposed to have been born at Nopke 21 in Neustadt am Rubenberge,
Hannover in 1703. The name of his mother is unknown. Johann
Christian was married at the Hagen Church on 9 April 1779 to Anna
Engel BORMAN. Their children were born in Rodewald as follows:
Johann Heinrich DEGENER, 25 March 1780; Heinrich Christian
DEGENER, 22 November 1782; Johann Friedrich DEGENER, 14 September
1785; Sophie Anna Marie DEGENER, 18 June 1788; Johann Ludwig
Daniel DEGENER, 6 January 1790 and Johann Jurgen DEGENER, 31 May
1792. Anna Engel BORMAN DEGENER is supposed to have died in 1793
in Rodewald. After her death, Johann Christian DEGENER married
his second wife, Anna Marie BLUMEN, at Rodewald (?) in 1793 or
1794. Their first child was Heinrich Friedrich DEGENER, 6 May
1794 then Catharine Marie Dorothee DEGENER, 29 September 1795. I
would also like to know the date of death of Johann Christian
DEGENER. I would like to know the date of the marriage of
Heinrich Christian DEGENER born 22 November 1782 at Rodewald. He
married Anna Catharina Dorothea DUENSING at Rodewald probably
about 1810. She was born at Rodewald 4 May 1784. Her parent's
were Johann Friedrich DUENSING and Catharine Dorothea MOELLER. I
do not know when Anna Catharina Dorotheas DUENSING DEGENER died,
but it was probably before 1842 and may have been at Neustadt.
Heinrich Christian DEGENER emigrated to the United States
about 1843 and the church book in Proviso Township, Illinois says
Heinrich Christian DEGENER geborn Rodewald, aus Neustadt. No
wife is in the records.
I would like to know the marriage date of Heinrich Wilhelm
DEGENER born at Rodewald on 30 May 1819 (father was Heinrich
Christian and mother was Anna DUENSING DEGENER). He married
Margaretha EHRICH probably about 1842 at Rodewald. Heinrich's
brother Heinrich Friedrich was married on 20 November 1842 at St.
Aegidien Lutheran Church, Rodewald. I would like to know the
name of the parent's of Margaretha EHRICH. She was born 11 July
1815 (probably at or near Rodewald). This is a rather large
order but these are the few missing names and dates after more
than 35 years of research. Thanks very much.

I'm looking for information concerning the LEMKAU and OELLRICH
families in Eastern Germany. Henry OELLRICH married Anna LEMKAU
(born 1841) in Germany. We believe Henry OELLRICH died in the
region of Oederquart, Germany.
When Anna came to the States in 1888, with her two children, she
sited Oederquart as her home. Her two children were born in
Freiburg / Elbe, Kathryn OELLRICH (born 1874) and Wilhelm
OELLRICH (born 1878). The three settled for a time, in Le
Sueur, Minnesota. Anna also had a son out of wedlock, born at
Freiburg / Elbe in 1863. His name was Claus Frederick LEMKAU. He
immigrated to the States in 1884 and finally settled in San
Francisco, California. Any help with be wonderful.

I am searching for my great grandparents. John Gerhardt
REHMSTEDT / RIMSTIDT, was born 22 March 1800 at Bruchhausen,
Hannover. He married in 1822 to Adeline SEVEUS, born (probably)
06 May 1804 or 1806 at Bruchhausen, Hannover. I have heard the
records for the REHMSTEDT / RIMSTIDT family may be in the Parish
of Heiligenfelde, Hannover. John and Adeline immigrated to
America in June 1842 and settled in Ripley County, Indiana. I
have seen the name spelled many different ways - RIHMENSTEDT,
RIMSTEDT, and the name was changed to RIMSTIDT in America. I
need to verify the above information and possibly find their
ancestors there in Germany.

I am researching my 3-great-grandfather, Carl (Charles) Henry
KUNSEMUELLER, who was born in Hannover, Germany about 1800. His
son, Charles Henry KUNSEMUELLER, (Changed his name to KUNSMILLER)
was born November 1824 in Hannover (Possibly Dissen ?). He
immigrated to America and moved to St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He
was a cloth merchant who travelled to Europe and Great Britain to
buy cloth. There he met Conradine Louisa GERKE, a Dutch woman
who had been orphaned, who was living with her aunt in London.
They married at St. Louis on 20 January 1842. Charles had at
least two brothers, George and Frederick, who also were born in
Hannover and immigrated with Charles to the U.S. Any one with
information about this family, please contact me. I've been
searching for nearly 35 years. Thank you.

I have greatgrandfather, Henry KIELHORN, who was born at
Dadenhausen, Hannover, Germany, about 1850. I am trying to
locate Dadenhausen and possible web sites who can assist me, I
see numerous KIELHORN'S in the telephone book in Hannover, wrote
to several, no response. I thank you for you kindness.
Webmaster's Note: Try using the WWW (the web), use the Google.com search engine, with
the Kielhorn surname as an entry and especially look for German
websites and genealogy referecnes too - ypou may be surprised at
the amount of stuff you see. Rememeber to make your query very
short (so that all will read it) - a couple paragraphs max.
State who you are, who you are related to that might interest
them. And ask only one question - "Who is the genealogist for
the KIELNHORN surname?" If you get to the right person, you
should have a ton of new stuff to deal with.

I am looking for Christine B. BREYER, born 6 October 1845 at
Salzhemmendorf, Germany and married Ludwig Heinrich SASS of Sulz,
Germany, born 6 August 1838 (they married in 1865 at Chicago,
Illinois). I need to find her parents, as well as his father.
His mother is Sophia Wilhelmina Christiana SASS, born 13 November
1819, who remarried Jacob MULLER of Teterow after Ludwig's father
either died or they were divorced. I have sketchy information
about her (Christina's) parents possibly being Philipp BREYER and
mother being Dorothy WUNSDORF, but I can find no proof. Do you
have any help for me?

Bernard BROCKMANN was born 23 June 1819 and his brother, Francis
BROCKMANN, was born 24 June 1826 in Hannover, Germany. There
were 7 siblings in this family. Four remained in Germany. One
other brother also immigrated to the US. The parents died 10
months apart, in about 1833. Francis immigrated to America via
Bremen to New Orleans. arriving December 1844. Bernhard
immigrated came to America from Bremen, but I am unsure of the
date (one writing by his wife says 1842). There were 5 more
children born to this family. One more immigrated to America and
the other 4 died in the fatherland. They were Catholic. I
would like to find out the names of the parents, and the
siblings. Also information on the name of the ships that they
came to America on. This is during the time that the records
were destroyed in Bremen.

I am searching for the birthplace of my grandfather, Herman
LUECKING, who was born in the kingdom of Hannover on 22 September
1865. He listed his parents as George and Charlotte LUECKING.
His daughter said that he had two sisters who remained in
Germany. He emigrated to the United States, arriving at the port
of New York in June 1881. He lived at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He
was sponsored to the United States by Conrad STROHMEYER, who was
married to Charlotte LUECKING. On 11 June 1892 he married Alvina
BRECKOW at the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. They had 10 children: Dorothea, Alma, William,
George, Mabel, Herman, Alvina, Marie, Arthur, and Charlotte.
Herman LUECKING died 11 February, 1916 at Milwaukee and is buried

Family information available: Christerfer LÖFFLER (LOEFFLER
/ LOFFLER married Magdelena KOLHENHOEFER (Christerfer may have
been born about 1790 and Magdalena born about 1797. I don't know
where, but maybe in Hanover, Germany). - They were Roman
Catholic. Their children who immigrated with them: Elizabeth
LOEFFLER, born about 1817 in Hanover, Germany; Josiah "Joseph"
LOEFFLER, born about 1819 / 1820 in Hanover, Germany; Theresa
LOEFFLER born between 1821 and 1826 in Hanover, Germany; Henry
LOEFFLER born 15 June (probably 1832 but maybe 1833) in Hanover,
Germany; John LOEFFLER born 26 December 1839 in Hanover, Germany.
They immigrated to America as a family in 1844 or 1845, leaving
the port of Bremenhaven, Germany and arriving at New Orleans. I
want to confirm birth dates; baptismal dates; marriage date of
parents; listing of grandparents and/or Godparents; anything that
list them as a family, for example- exit information of
immigration and censuses. I have seen their surname written as
LOFFLER with 2 dots over "o" and the "e" dropped (Webmaster -
that is called an umlautt - see it as presented above). If
family left Hanover, Germany for USA in 1844 / 1845 from
Bremenhaven for New Orleans, is there information taking at the
time of their leaving and, if so, where would it be on file? How
do I obtain or research Roman Catholic Church records for
Hanover, Germany, maybe in the Kingdom of Hanover? Thank you.
