I am researching my great-grandfather, Carl TROMPF, who was born in about
1831 at Bladiau, near Konigsberg. He migrated to Australia, by way of
California, arriving in Australia in 1851. He died in Victoria, Australia
in 1914. Any details of his family prior to his emigration would be useful.
I have found difficulty locating Bladiau exactly. I know nothing of Carl
TROMPF'S life before he arrived in Australia in 1851. He married Ellen
Walker STEWART about a year after he arrived here. Unfortunately the marriage
pre-dates by a few months, the introduction of full, official registration
which would have given details of parents.

I seek information on Frederick WITTKE, born 1840 and died before 1922,
married Louise HOLLAND, orn 8 June 1848, emigrated to the US in 1912;
died 1925. Their seven children were born in Posenick, amtsgericht Gerdauen
and the family were members of the Evangelical Church. Frederick WITTKE
served in the military. His photo shows an 1863 cross, medals with a bar
across. He was wounded in the war. The WITTKES had moved Dortmund by 1903.
My grandmother was married at St. Reinoldi where two of her children were
baptized. Any information on the WITTKE and/or HOLLAND lines would be
useful. Is Posegnick, amtsgericht Gerdauen, now in Kaliningrad Russia?
Webmaster's Note: Yes, Posegnick is now a part of the
Kaliningrad triangle of Baltic Russia and has a Russian name.

I just found this site through FEEFHS. My husband's great-great-grandfather
was born at Koenigsburg, I don't know if it is the town or the Kreis?
Maurice KOETTLITZ was born in 1815 or 1816. His father was J.F. KOETTLITZ.
Maurice became a Lutheran minister, so I assume that was his father's
religion also. Eventually he emigrated to England. Can you tell me how
to get started, or how to post to the search list I see here? Where would
I look to find records for this period? Thank you for any help.

I am looking for information on the NEUMANN family. My great grandmother's
name was Veronika NEUMANN (born about 1890). She was married and had a
total of four living children; Helena Magdelena NEUMANN, (born about 1912);
Paul NEUMANN (born about 1920); Andreas NEUMANN (born about 1925); Hans
NEUMANN (born about 1926). They were born in the town of Karschau,Kreis
Braunsberg,East Prussia.
Helena NEUMANN married Bruno THEIL and they had two children, Brunhilde
(born December 1932) and Christel (born 25 September 1934). Helena died
in February 1936 at Karschau, East Prussia. My mother Brunhilde tells
me that she last saw her uncle Paul NEUMANN on 1 September 1939. He was
drafted into the German Army. The last account my mother had of her Uncles
(Paul, Andreas and Hans) is that they were 'Missing in Action' from the
German Army. Any information on how to proceed with a search for the NEUMANN
Family from Karchau, East Prussia would be greatly appreciated.

I am researching ANTON PLOHMANN, from MEHLSACK, East Prussia. He was born
1805, and was married at Konitz, West Prussia in 1832 to Sophie Fredericke
Wilhelmine LOEWERT, when his age is listed at 27 years. A lady in Germany

I am trying to locate records pertaining to the SALECKER family in general
and specifically my grandfather Anton SALECKER who was born at Koenigsburg
30 October 1875. He emigrated to New York City about 1900 where he married
in 1909 and died in 1916. He was involved in the export-import business
and made numerous trans-atlantic trips. I believe his parents were Anton
SALECKER and Emma HOFFER, probably of Koenigsburg.
von GUTTNER, Darius
Melbourne, Australia
eMail address: dguttner@csi.com
I am researching the GUTTNER / GATTNER / GUETTNER / GITTNER / GUDTNER
family roots. Graf Alexander Theophil von GUTTNER was born at Koenigsberg
on 31 December 1895). His father, Anton von GUTTNER (born circa 1857-1860)
came from either Koenigsberg, Danzig or Berlin. They were either of the
Lutheran or Evangelical Reformed Church. But this is possible that they
were Roman Catholics as their children were baptised in Berlin as Catholics.
There was another GUTTNER (brother of Anton and father of Albert), Carl
Ferdinand GUTTNER born at Berlin (1845). Other GUTTNERS from Danzig include
Carl Friedrich (born 28 March 1800); his son Carl Louis (born 3 December
1834); and grandson Adolph Robert (born 6 March 1875). In Carlow, Maclemburg
(Mecklenburg??) Joachim Martin, (born 5 October 1771, died 6 August 1814).
I understand that the surname has been spelled in many ways but I would
like to get as much information as possible about any members of the family
as I am collating this information together. Ideally I am interested in
obtaining church records. I would really appreciate any information, trace
or suggestion. JOHNSON, Carol A.

My wife and I are searching for ancestors in Eastern Pruessen. Exactly
it's my wife's great-great-grandmother Marie Luise KIRSTEIN and her family
we are looking for. She was born at Papperten, Kreis Pr. Eylau, Standesamt
Buchholz, Regierungsbezig Koenigsberg on 21 January 1860. In 1885 she
was married in the church at Bevtoft, Schlesvig-Holstein, to Peter NIELSEN
HANSEN GUDE. Bevtoft is located in Northern Schlesvig, today a part of
Denmark.
We don't know much of the movements of her family in the period up to
1885 and also the years after. We have not found the date of which she
arrived to Schlesvig-Holstein. There are some of the older in our family
who weak can recall that Marie Luise GUDE, born KIRSTEIN, had contact
to relatives of her family in Berlin in the beginning of this century.
Maybe the whole family later moved to Berlin or another western part of
Preussen. Northern Schlesvig was a part of Pruessen in the period 1864
to 1920.
First of all we are looking for the acestors to Marie Luise KIRSTEIN,
but also her posterity. Who was her parrents and what about brothers,
sisters, nephews, nieces and cousins? To find that information we also
need to know where to find the church archives and the personal registers,
etc. How many of these archives is still in the Russian part of the earlier
East Preussen and how many is located in Germany.
Secondly we also ask for topographic information (description of the area,
maps, old as well as new maps) of the region around Papperten, Pr. Eylau.
Also we ask for today information about the Russian place names of regions,
villages and cities. We hope that the above information can help you on
the way. Any news will be velcome. If there is any questions, please contact
us. Many thanks in advance. KEMP, Mike

Hee married a cousin, Doratha REDLINGSHAFER, and was a prosperous farmer.
I have heard for years of how our name was changed and shortened, probably
