ERNSTBERGER, George Heinrich (variant spellings of Arnsperger,
Ernsperger,
Ehrensperger) immigrated to Pennsylvania on the ship Charming
Nancy on 17 October 1737
from the Palatinate. His approximate birth date was 1720. He
married Maria Magdalena
RAUSCH circa 1741 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I am
looking for any information
about this individual in Europe or the US.

I am researching the BRAXMEIER family from the village of
Gleisweiler, Pfalz. I hope to find emigration
records so that I can verify that George Braxmeier, born at
Gleisweiler to Herman and Anna Marie IMHOF
Braxmeier about 1834, is my great-grandfather who emigrated to
the United States in 1851. I think so but can't
prove it because his citizenship papers only say he came from
Bavaria. LDS records show two clusters of that
name in old Germany -one in Gleisweiller and surroundings and
another cluster in the Frieburg-Black Forest
area. First names of people in Gleisweiller match names of my
Great-Grandfather's children. First names of
the Black Forest group match names in another branch of family.
I am at a deadend. Have written to local
church in Gleisweiller - but there is no one there anymore by
that name. Looks like the boys emigrated and the
girls stayed home. Any clues will be appreciated.

I am seeking birth, marriage, or other information for Frederick
DANNENFELSER born 1808 (Germany or
Prussia), wife Mary Elizabeth (surname unknown - possibly SHUCH
or SHUCK) born 1810 (Germany or
Prussia), son Jacob born 1838 (Germany, Prussia, aboard ship, or
possibly New York). Later church affiliation
was Evangelical. Desparately trying to jump the pond. Todate
surname spelling
has not changed. Any help very much appreciated.

Philipp FILIUS and his wife, Barbara DEUTSCH had a daughter,
Sophia, born 7 December
1820 in Alsheim, Canton of Mutterstadt, District of Speier,
Bavarian Rhine Country (also
known as the Bavarian Pfalz). Philipp is said to be mayor and a
farmer. The family
emigrated to Cleveland Ohio circa 1832, then settled in Hudson,
Summit County Ohio.
All eight children were born in Germany: Philipp married Anna
Barbara KEIS; Jacob;
Catherine married Adam HAAS, Barbara married Stephen MERKILL,
Elizabeth married
Joseph ISSLER, Sophia married Jonathon DeMUDE, John married
Catherine KEIS and mary
married John SAAR. I am a descendant of Eizabeth and John Issler
and am searching for
the parentage and birthplaces of Philipp and Barbara (DEUTSCH)
FILLIUS.

(Postal Submission)
I wish to identify other members of the family of Peter Henricum
KUHN, born 8 July 1803 at Edesheim, Germany. His parents were
Jakob Kuhn and Katherina HERBERGER KUHN. Peter married first,
Barbara FRIEBIS; married second, Catherina WOLF on 4 October 1836
at Edesheim. Birth and marriage records are from Catholic Church
records at Speyer. I will share names and related material on
his descendants. This Peter Henricum KUHN was my
great-grandfather. He came to the US about 1839 and settled at
Pittston, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Please reply by postal
mail -- I do not have eMail.
Webmaster's Note: While the Civil Registration (1815-1833)
for Edesheim is on one reel of FHL microfilm, the Catholic Church
records for Edesheim are available in two collections of FHL
microfilm: 5 reels of the Churchbook (1676-1910) and one reel of
the duplicate churchbook (1778 to 1791). If you have not looked
at both of these you may not have exhausted the most likely
source. Have you reviewed the 76 summaries of Kuhn genealogy in
the Surname Search section of the FHL Catalog?
The other obvious FHC sources include the Ancestral File and
running a search of your surname through Ahnenstammkartei des Deutschen
Volkes and looking to see if there is a sub-dirctory for
Edesheim under the Kuhn surname there.

I am searching for ancestors or relatives still living in
Germany. My grandfather Jakob NEUBRECHT immigrated the America
in 1873. His father was Karl NEUBRECHT and his mother was Maria
GEIB. Jakob lists his profession as farmer on the passenger list
of his immigration ship. He lived in the area of Niederkirchen
and Hefersweiler of the Rhineline-Pfalz which at that time was a
part of Bayern.
Webmaster's Note: The Immigrant Genealogy Society (IGS)
conducts searches of the latest German telephone book collection
on CD-ROM.
STEMPLE, Bruce

eMail address: bstemple@ix.netcom.com
I am researching the STEMPLE surname. My ancestor came from
Palatinate, Germany on the Ship Mary in 1732. His name was
Nickolas Stemple. He was accompanied by a son, Jacob and
also a grandson, Godfrey. Do any family histories exist in
Germany for the STEMPLE surname?
Webmaster's Note: If you goto your nearest LDS FHC (Family
History Center) and open the FHL Catalog under "Surname Search",
you will see 10 citations for Stemple. The first 8 are for
persons with that surname marrying into other families. However
#9 and #10 will be of real interest to you.
Are you really without any vital dates for any of the first two
generations? Without them and without a probable religion, there
is not likely to be much else to help you here, as there is
little factual evidence for others to evaluate and consider. "as
the sowing, the reaping".

Here what I know: Thomas MEICHEL arrived at Oberlauterbach,
Alsace in 1716. He died there 1750. His wife was Anna Maria
GERSTENMEYER. Their oldest child was Christophorus MEICHEL born
circa 1718. I know that there were some MEICHEL -MEUCHEL in the
Pfaltz around 1700. I have researched all the surnames related
to MEICHEL, MEIGEL, MEUCHEL, MAICHLE, MAYCHELL, etc. in the
Alsace. I would like to get in touch with people who know these
stems before 1800.
I am also looking for information on Joseph BLATT / PLATH who was
born circa 1682. He arrived at
Munchhausen, Alsace before 1721 and died there in 1752. His wife
was Eva GABEL. His profession of
carpenter gives a strong probability to a Tyrolien origin. I
know that there were some BLATT / PLATH in the
Pfaltz and Saarland around 1700. Johann BLATT / PLATH, (maybe
born in Sieschen, Tirol, circa 1665), died
1752 at Wiebelskirchen. He was a godfather in 1690 at Ottweiler.
It was written that he came from Reschen,
South-Tyrol and was the son of Christian BLATT and Dorothea PRIOT
"in Communitate Richer ?Naudersberg
in Tyrol". His brother Peter BLATT / PLATH was born circa 1678,
died 1762 at Neunkirchen. And a Joseph
BLATT / PLATH was witness at Neunkirchen just before 1700. I
would like to get in touch with people who
know these stems before 1800. I am looking forward to your
mail

Seeking information about or relatives of my great grandmother
Anna Maria JAEGER,
daughter of
Friedrich Jaeger, born 12 Aug 1841, emigrated from Oberhausen,
Rheinpfalz. She lived in
New
York, NY when she married Ludwig Justus Martin MULLER 28 Aug
1864.
When did she emigrate? With whom? Did she have any brothers
and/or sisters? Did any of
them
emigrate also? Arer there any cousins or other relatives living
now in Germany? Do you
know of
any living in America or elsewhere? I will gladly exchange
information.

I am seeking the place of origin for George Michael KUNTZ, who
arrived in the port of
Philadelphia on 24 Sep 1727, according to the notation in his
family bible. He arrived from
Rotterdam aboard the boat "James Goodwill" and was qualified 20
September 1727 under the
name Jung Michael KUNTS. He arrived with Hans Michael KUNTS,
probably a brother or
maybe his father. According to the Abridged Compendium of
American
genealogy he came from the Palatinate, Germany. He settled
on lands along Swamp
Creek, Frederick Township, Montgomery County, PA, and married Eve
ENGELHART,
sister to Ludwig ENGELHART, on 1 April 1732. George Michael was
probably born about
1700, and died 10 August 1759. Eve died 27 Jun 1772 and both are
buried in Leydich
Burying Ground.
George Michael and Eve (ENGELHART) KUNTZ were the parents of: 1)
Mary KUNTZ,
born 12 November 1734, married John STETLER; 2) Maria Catharine
KUNTZ, born 14
May 1738, married John REIMER; 3) Susan KUNTZ, born 24 October
1740, married
Ludwig REIMER; 4) George Michael KUNTZ, born 7 July 1742 died 7
July 1824; 5)
Frederick, KUNTZ, born 6 July 1744; 6) John KUNTZ, born 26 Jun
1747; 7) Catharine
KUNTZ, born 9 February 1750, married 1st Michael KREBS, married
2nd John
RICHARDS; 8) Elizabeth KUNTZ, born 12 January 1754, married Jacob
ZEIBER. I have
considerable information on these lines. Any help in locating
George Michael KUNTZ Sr.'s
place of origin will be appreciated.
