I am looking for information on the following people who are said to have emigrated
from "Marienbu(e)rg, WP" (I have been informed that the WP is likely
West Prussia, not Western Pomerania) in about 1910:
Franicis [Franz?] Aloysius Birkmann, b. 28 Nov 1881,
his wife, Auguste Birkmann, b. 28 July 1881 (maiden name unknown),
and their daughter Edith Birkmann, b. 23 Jul 1905
Thank you.

My great-great-grandfather was August BLANKENBURG. Our family
records indicate that he was born at Rosanien (now named Rozajny)
on 16 June 1839 in Marienwerder county which was in the province
of Elblaskie. I believe my August BLANKENBURG was Lutheran (all
persons named BLANKENBURG in my family in the United States are
Lutheran). In 1864 he married ANNA WILSCHEWSKI who lived at Orau
or Gross Ottlau which today is named Otlowo. Both Rozajny and
Otlowa are listed as being approximately 3 kiklometers from
Dietmarsdorf (the German name, I believe). Our records indicate
that they immigrated to the United States in 1872 through Boston,
Massachusetts. I am searching for family records that would
reveal more about each of their backgrounds. This would include
marriage, census, baptismal, occupation, and the names of their
parents. If anyone can help me with this search I would be
extremely grateful.

I am searching for marriage and birth information on Adelgunda
GROSHINSKI, her husband, Julius PFEIFFER, his parents, Anna and
Johan KRAJEWSKI, and my grandfather Arthur PFEIFFER, son of
Adelgunda and Julius. Arthur and his mother immigrated to the
United States about 1890 from Lautenburg, West Prussia when
Arthur was under one year old. Adelgunda and Julius would have
married about 1880. Adelgunda was born about 1862 in Germany;
Julius was born about 1864 in Germany. He was a Prussian
soldier. They immigrated to Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

United States in 1923 with his wife Martha and 3 year old
daughter Gertrude. Leo CZERWONKE was in the German

I am searching for information about the AFFELDT, SCHUELLER, and
the SCHEWE / SCHEWES line. My great great grandfather was Gustav
AFFELDT, born 29 October 1841 at Arnsfelde, Deutsch Krone,
Pommerania, West Prussia. His parents were Ludwig Karl AFFELDT
and Marie SCHUELLER. He married Wilhelmina SCHEWE / SCHEWES
around 1865 and had at least five children: Pauline, (birthdate
unknown); Ernestina Pauline (born 29 January 1867), Louis,
(birthdate unknown); Wilhelmina, born 13 April 1872 and Herman
C., born 12 August 1875. Wilhelmina SCHEWE / SCHEWES passed away
between the years of 1875 and 1879. Gustav then married
Wilhelmina GARSKE (born 21 January 1847 at Berlin, Germany)
around 1880 and they had August (born 18 April 1881 in Germany)
and Ida Marie (born 11 November 1885 at New London, Waupaca
county, Wisconsin, USA. Gustav and his second wife, Wilhelmina
nee GARSKE (along with the six children) immigrated to the United
States before 1883 and settled at Maple Creek, Outagamie county,
Wisconsin. I would appreciate contact from anyone researching
these surnames, especially if they think a link can be made with
my ancestors. Any advice on how to locate records for the
Arnsfelde, Deutsch Krone area would be appreciated also.

parents listed as Friedrich SCHENKEL and Elizabeth GUENTHER.
LAKE, Nancy KRUEGER
Atlanta, Georgia, USA
eMail address: mclake@directvinternet.com
I need advice on completing some genealogy research from Prussia.
Michael KRUEGER was born in 1785 at Eichenberg, Prussia and his
brother, Martin was born 3 November 1782 at Eichenberg. As well
as Gottlieb KRUEGER born 29 March 1811 at Flotholland, Prussia.
They all immigrated to Tarutino, Bessarabia, South Russia about
1813. Based on the map from Dr. Karl Stumpp of Prussia in 1814,
Eichenberg was approximately 150 kilometers southwest of what is
now Gdansk, Poland. Flotholland, Prussia was approximately 100
kilometers south of Eichenberg. I believe that Flotholland was
approximately 60 miles north of what is now Poznan, Poland.
I would like to determine the father of Martin and Michael
KRUEGER, as well as research their origin in Germany, but am not
sure how to proceed. Gottlieb's son, Christoph KRUEGER, my
great-great grandfather, was born 20 February 1847 at Tarutino,
Bessarabia. He immigrated to Parkston, South Dakota, along with
his wife, Sarah MAIER, and 6 children in 1881. I have extensive
family history for the years in Russia and South Dakota for
anyone interested. Family folklore is that the family originated
from Wuerttemberg, Germany. However, I do not know where to find
information for the family prior to 1814. Again, I thank you for
any help or direction you can suggest.

I am looking for any information for Josephus MROCZKOWSKI, born
10 September 1829. He was christened at Katholische Kirche,
Briesen Marienwerder, Westpreussen, Preussen on 13 September
1829. Father was Franciscus MROCZKOWSKI and mother was Magdalena
BUCZKOWSKA. This name, I think, was shortened to MROSS upon
entering the U.S.
OLSCHEWSKE, Dianne
eMail address: Dianneols@aol.com
I am looking for more information on the surnames OLSCHEWSKE and
OLSOWSKI. Carl OLSCHEWSKE, born 1853 in Germany (probably West
Prussia), married Wilhelmina OLSOWSKI, born 1854 in Germany
(probably West Prussia). Their children were: John OLSCHEWSKE
born 1877 in Germany; Louise OLSCHEWSKE born 1878 in Germany;
August OLSCHEWSKE born 1880 at the Estate of Froedenau,
Steenkendorf, Germany; Frederick OLSCHEWSKE born 1883 in
Germany; and Emma OLSCHEWSKE born in 1886 in Germany. They all
immigrated to the United States in 1888 and settled in upper
state New York.

I am researching my great grandparents, (Christopher) Gustav
MICHEL / MICHAELS and Augusta WOLDT MICHAELS. Gustav was born
about May 1856 and Augusta on 21 June 1857. They immigrated to
the US in 1884. Also immigrating to the US was Augusta's mother
Wilhelmine DRAVES WOLDT, born 1830; married to Wilhelm / William
WOLDT. Wilhelmine had a half-brother, Andrew ZAHN, who lived in
Wisconsin, USA. Wilhelmine WOLDT and WILHELM WOLDT had the
following children: Augusta WOLDT (MICHAELS), Fred WOLDT-born
1861, August WOLDT-born-about 1863, Wilhelm WOLDT-born about
1865; Wilhelm's naturalization record indicated that he was born
at Schneidemuhl, Prussia. I am seeking any information on my
great-grandparents, most especially great grandfather Gustav
MICHEL, whom I know nothing about. Thank you.

(Evangelisch)
I am looking for information on my ancestors. I was told that an
ancestor of mine, Christian SCHMORR (Johann Christian SCHMORR),
was the son of Simon SCHMORR from Elbing. Johann (or Christian)
was born around 1794, but I'm not sure if he was born in Elbing
like his father. I would like to get the name of Simon's wife,
siblings and parents and the christening and marriage dates
as well. The family was evangelisch. Thanks.
SCHNICK, Betty HOEPPNER
eMail address: betner@juno.com
I am interested in locating family history connected to Schnick origins.
My grandfather was Gustav Friedrich Schnick, who married Klara Christina Falk in
Zelmorostwo, West Prussia in 1892. They lived in Zelmorostowo for a year and
then moved to Strippau, near Danzig. Klara was the daughter of Karl Friedrich
(August) Julius Falk and Anna Marie Gast. After her death, he married her
sister, Anna Falk, in Strippau.
My great-grandfather, Johann Christian Schnick was born in Gosen, near
Danzig, in 1846, and was married to Christina Louise Drews at the Schoeneck Ev.
Lutheran church in 1869. They had four children: Gustav, Friedrich, Auguste,
Berta, and Amanda. After Christina's death, he married her sister Auguste Drews
(daughter of Christian Drews and Christina Hahn). They had one more child,
Otto.
My gr.gr.-grandfather's name was Christian Schnick and he was married to
Constantia Buch in Gosen. I would like more information on this family and any
of their ancestors.
SCHWARZ, Bonnie
eMail address: brs29@attbi.com
I am searching for the birthplace of my ancestor, Joseph JAEGER,
sometimes spelled YAGER. His date of birth is 20 May 1828, and
his stated place of birth is Burnscheit, West Prussia, Germany,
also spelled Bourscheid. He immigrated to the United States in
1852, coming to Putnam county, Illinois, then on to Chicago,
Illinois between 1900-1907. He became a naturalized citizen in
1860, renouncing allegiance to the King of Bavaria, I believe it
says, and his application for same, dated 1856 renounces
allegiance to the King of Prussia. Family tradition states that
he came from the area of Koln (Cologne) Germany. I see that this
area was also Prussia at one time, but am I correct that it was
not considered "West" Prussia? There are several towns with
names similar to "Bourscheid" in that region (Koln) and none I
can locate in the area that is called West Prussia. He married a
Catherine BOELLISFILT / BULLERFELD ? in 1854 at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church at LaSalle county, Illinois and they had 4
daughters; 2 survived: Blanche JAEGER married Nicholas SCHAAF in
Putnam county, Illinois and they moved to Chicago circa 1900.
Catherine JAEGER married Joseph PIETSCHMANN at Chicago, Illinois
in 1891. Joseph JAEGER / YAGER died 27 February 1909 at
Chicago, Illinois. Any help on this location or family would be
greatly appreciated.
SELESKY, Bea
eMail address: bgselesky@yahoo.com
I am looking for any information on the family of Charles
SELEFSKI / SELEFSKY / SELESKY / SELESKI and Marianetta TETZLOFF
who lived at or near Danzig in 1877. Their children were John,
Joseph, Alexander, Anthony, Matilda, Rose, Ann and possibly Suzy.
They were said to have immigrated to the United States as a
family in the mid 1877's and ended up in the Detroit, Michigan
area. Information about Charles and Marianetta is sketchy.
Charles was born 1820 or before, Marianetta was born 1822 or
before. Both gave their birth places as Germany and the birth
places of their parents as Germany. There is a story of her
being nobility and him being the gardener on the Tetzloff estate,
but I have found no proof of this. It is not known if any of
their children brought a family with them to the United States
but I do know that Joseph, Alexander, Matilda and Rose married in
Michigan. Ann was said to have become a Catholic Nun but do not
know if the whole family was Roman Catholic or not. Neustadt was
always talked about as being their home in Germany but others
remember Kiel and Danzig being mentioned in connection with their
home. It is possible that the spelling of SELEFSKI, SELEFSKY,
SELESKI and SELESKY was changed. Family records in the United
States list all three spellings. SELESKY is used today by the
majority of the family. Thank you.
