Laura Hanowski of Regina, Canada is Second vice-President of
FEEFHS. She is Librarian
for the Saskatchewan Genealogy
Society (SGS) Provincal
Headquarters at Regina. She was raised in Kelowna, British
Columbia and graduated
from the University of British Columbia (B Education). After
teaching briefly she has been
SGS Librarian since 1980.
She has conducted personal research on her husband's Bukovina
ancestors, on Galica and
German Russians from the Black Sea region. She is a member of
FEEFHS, the Bukovina Society of the Americas and
the AHSGR.
Laura conducts research for clients of the SGS and presents
workshops in Saskatchewan for
many of the 25 chapters of the SGS. She has also written various
articles for the SGS
Bulletin and The Irish at Home and Abroad. She
lectures at workshops in
Saskatchewan on SGS Library Resources.
In May 1996 she lectured for the Thunder Bay District Branch of
the Ontario Genealogy
Society at their "Trails West Genealogical Holiday
Adventure".
She plans to lecture at the Septmber 1997 FEEFHS Convention in
Salt Lake City on:
- Using Canadian Reocrds to Trace East European Ancestors.
- Using Noth American records to trace Bukovina and Galicia
