Timothy Laitila Vincent, A.G. (Acredited Genealogist) Mr. Vincent attended the University of Helsinki, Finland in 1976-1977 with an emphasis on Finnish for Foreigners. From 1977-1980 he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, graduating with a BS Degree in Genealogy and Family & Local History (1980). His emphasis was on US and Scandinavian history and research. He has been a professional genealogical researcher for 20 years. He is an accredited Finnish and Swedish Genealogist at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. He is the only full-time accredited Finnish researcher.

In 1979 Mr Vincent taught US & Canadian Genealogy through Central Michigan University in St. Helens and Cadillac, Michigan. Mr. Vincent has given workshops and slide presentations for the Minnesota Finnish Genealogical Society, the Scandinavian Society in Sun City, Arizona, to the Jackson County, Michigan Genealogical Society on records preservation as well as Scandinavian slide presentations for local, private, church groups showing life in Scandinavia pre-1900. Mr. Vincent has been a featured speaker at FinnFest'94 (DeKalb, Illinois), FinnFest '95 (Portland, Oregon), and FinnFest '96 (Marquette, Michigan).

Timothy Laitila Vincent and Rick Tapio are co-authors of Finnish Genealogical Research 1994, 196 pages, Finnish Americana Press, New Brighton, Minnesota (ISBN 09632975-6-2). This is the only book in print on Finnish family research. Mr Vincent writes a monthly genealogical column for the Finnish American Reporter since 1979. He has published numerous other articles as well.

Ms. Maryan Egan-Baker is a graduate of the University of Utah. She has been a professional genealogist for over nine years. She has particular interest and expertise in New England research. She also has extensive experience in the southern states and mid-west areas. She has published articles in Everton's Genealogical Helper, the Journal of the Irish Family History Society and the Clan Egan Newsletter.

Family Sleuths have the expertise and the resources the locate the immigrant generation from Finland and Scandinavia. They are familiar with the immigration records from both continents and migrating patterns throughout the world. Mr Vincent has a personal collection of records pertaining to the immigrant generation which are available nowhere else.

FEES: Family Sleuths research complete family trees from beginning to end. Research rates are only US$20.00 per hour plus copies and postage. A deposit of US$150.00 is required.


GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH AREAS


We specialize in researching Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian Parish and civil vital records using microfilm and microfiche records available at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Please note that large additional shipments at the Family History Library are anticipated within the next few months. These microfiche will NOT circulate to the LDS branch libaries.

Swedish and Norwegian parish and civil vital records are filmed and available to about 1920.

Finnish parish records are generally microfilmed to the 1870's. However, currently parish records are being updated at the Family History Library, on microfiche, to about 1900. The following parishes have already arrived, have been cataloged and are available for research:
