The first survey is circa 1788 / 1790 and the second survey circa 1820. In addition to the names of the heads of household, it also includes the number of persons living at that domicile, occupation of head of household, and in many cases, the village of origin in Germany of the family. It includes for each village, the specific amounts of livestock and other interesting facts. Note: Please keep in mind when reading this book that this is a "translation" of an existing German work. The derogatory comments about Jews and others is NOT the view of the Galizien German Descendants and it does NOT represent the view of FEEFHS nor any of its leaders. Partial Translation of the Village Histories: GGD has not translated the entire book - only the first 17 Chapters of text (70 pages) which is a history of the organization of these settlements. The Other Stuff is Good Also: The remainder of the pages of this book are devoted to the listings for the individual villages. For anyone whose ancestors came from Galicia, this is most interesting reading. It gives one an understanding of the life and economic conditions our ancestors faced. 1.
