21 Belarus and Russian Towns with Jewish Congregation Records on Microfilm:
The latest release (30 August 1996) of the Family History library Catalog (FHLC) on
CD-ROM contains separate references to 21 Jewish congregations in Belarus and Russia for
which some microfilm records are now available. The original records for these Jewish
Congregations were all filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU) in 1993 at the
Central Historical Archives of Belarus (CHAB) at Minsk.
Most but not all of these congregations were located in what is now Belarus. Reference to
the record group, series and file number(s) of the CHAB are noted on each FHL Catalog
entry.
10 More New Locations with Jewish Records on Microfilm In addition, FEEFHS
has added to this list 10 additional Russian Empire locations (in the Tula, Tomsk and Tavrida
districts) known to now have Jewish records available on microfilm. Films of these Jewish
congregation records were not available to be released on the 30 August 1996 FHLC
CD-ROM. However they are available now in Salt Lake City and accessable on the master
FHL
Computer using the location names given below. No doubt they will be included in future
releases of the FHL Catalog on fiche and CD-ROM.
Abbreviations have been used to compress the listing to one line. Ii some cases only the first
film is listed. While the span of years is listed, often there are gaps in records within that
range of years.
