I am searching for relatives of Molly (Malka) MIGDEN, daughter of Fanny and Leizer MIGDEN. Fanny was
from Novashola (it means new town) near Zbarash. Leizer was from from Podvalachesk and raised cattle. He
was much older than Fanny. Fanny was the second wife and left Poland for Boston in 1913; leaving behind her
husband and six month old baby daughter, Molly. Leizer died in 1927. Leizer had four children from his first
marriage; two sons and two daughters; they were adults when he married Fanny. Fanny (Faine) SEGAL and
Leizer had two daughters, one of them being Molly. The youngest son of Leizer's first marriage served in the
Polish Army, and gave his little sister, Malka/Molly a ring. Molly came alone to USA (Boston) in 1930. The
youngest brother wrote to her when she emigrated. She lost touch with half brothers and sisters when WW II
started. There were also cousins named NUSBAUM. Does anyone know?

John SMOCZYK, son of Gaspar SMOCZYK and Sofia Marcinkowska, born 1866 at Miniszew, Poznan,
Poland. In 1890 John married Josephine BLASZCYK, daughter of Francis BLASZCYK and Rosalie
KONIECZNA born 1870 at Raszewy, at Brzostkow, Poznan, PL. John arrived at New York in 1891 and
Josephine in 1892. They lived at Wellsville, New York, then moved to Wisconsin in 1900. Gaspar

unknown. Sofia and son Stanislaus died 4 October 1875 at Zerkow, Poznan, Poland. Parents of Sofia not
known. The SMOCZYK family maybe came from elsewhere. Earliest church records so far indicate nothing
before 1850 in this area which is between the city of Pozan and the city of Jarocin.

I am looking for information on the birthplace of Veronica ZYGMONTOVICH, born 1880 in the Spis area of
Poland or Slovakia. She married Andrew J. MIHALIK, born 1875. They married at Spangler, Pennsylvania in
1898. Her parents were George ZYGMONTOVICH and Katherine DOMION. She had a brother Jacob, born
1887 who married Elizabeth SOLTIS in 1907; they lived in Luzerne Co. Pennsylvania. Jacob shortened his
name to ZIGMOND. It is believed that Elizabeth traveled to the US with a WAXMUNSKY.
Andrew was from the Nowytarg--Jurgow area of Poland and we believe that the others may also be from the
same area but as of yet have no proof.
CZARNIECKI, Anna

I am looking for the American part of my family (CZARNIECKI / CZARNIECKA) who emigrated some time
before or during World War II (1939-1945) and took residence on the east coast of the United States
(Philadelphia or New York). The given names of the father and son (born in US?) were Stefan and Jan (John).
Stefan was the son of my great-grandfather's cousin, Felix, a psychiatrist, who established a clinic in
Kobierzyce, near Krakow. Jan came to Poland to study architecture in the 60's and lived in Warsaw at the
home of my great-aunt (younger sister of my grandfather) - Antonina CZARNIECKA-MUSIEROWICZ. Later
on (the more important part) he got our family tree out of Poland (he was to marry countess LEDOCHOWSKA,
of French emigration). I have reason to believe that the family tree he took was more detailed than the one that
remained in Poland. It is not sure if he resides in France or America. My great-aunt, having passed away
few years ago, can not serve as a source of family gossip any longer and my mother, Barbara CZARNIECKA,
daughter of Antoni and granddaughter of Jozef and Maria MYSLICKA. does not have any
contact with the Krakow (Cracow) branch of the family. I would be very grateful indeed for providing me with
any information relating to any of these persons.

I'm looking for any information about two sisters of my grandpa. These women were born at Novogrodec
(former part of Poland) about 1920. Novogrodec has the modern name Navagrudac, and it's a part of Grodno
region of Belorussia. Suster's names were Anna and Alberta DOVNAR. They left Novogrodek in 1935-1938(?)
and came to France. I can not find any news of them since the begining of WW II. Can anyone offer
assistance?

I am researching Wojiech (George) SZAFRAN, my grandfather. I believe he was born at Tuczan Gorny,
Poland ( I do not know the Province associated with this town; I was told that it was near Warsaw.). His birth
date of birth was 20 April 1880. He died 7 April 1928 at Niagara Falls, New York. He came to the United
States about 1904, maybe 1905. He settled at Auburn, New York. He married my Grandmother Josephine
Sophia JUCHA 6 June 1910. Josephine JUCHA was born 14 February 1893 at Lancut, Rzeszow, Poland. She
died 14 January 1989 at Lockport, New York. She came to the United States, from Zolenia, Poland via
Hamburg, Germany, on board the ship "M.V SS Kaiser Wilhelm" on 11 May 1905. Any information will be
greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My grandmother, Rozalia RYPIEN, emigrated from Jelesnia, Poland to Ohio in 1912. Jelesnia is about 30
miles southwest of Krakow and just east of Zywiec. Her parents were Thomas and Mary RYPIEN, formerly
Mary STRALKA or STRZALKA. Mary died in 1903. He probably remarried after Mary's death. Thomas is
thought to have been postmaster in Jelesnia and to have been murdered in Auschwitz in 1942 or 1943. Thomas
and Mary had 3 other children: Francis who died in infancy in 1903; Anne who entered a Belgian convent
around 1914 and died in 1980; and Nellie (?) who remained in Poland. Mary's mother was Regina STRALKA
or STRZALKA. Mary's sister, Magdalena, married Antoni (?) NIEDBALA and later lived at Lorain, Ohio. I
am especially interested in following up on the RYPIEN and STRALKA or STRZALKA connections. Thank
you for any assistance.

Can anyone help me find out about past family histories of the surnames KWOKA, TROJAN,SOLTYS, or
GAEDEK? It is told from an uncle that the KWOKA family was the caretaker for the musician Padereski.
Both sets of my grandparents came into the US between 1910 and 1907. Not much more was ever known of our
heritage. I do believe that they were all Catholic...but rumor has it on the SOLTYS side there was Jewish
ancestry. I am the daughter of Edmund KWOKA, Sr. and Agnes SOLTYS. My maternal Grandparents, Frank
SOLTYS, and Sophia GAEDEK SOLTYS, were emigrants to the US around 1900-1910. My paternal
grandparents were Joseph KWOKA and Sophia TROJAN KWOKA. They also emigrated around the same
time. Thank you to anyone who could shed some light on my family tree.

I am looking for relatives of the two wife of Jozef MERMON born 1839, died 1882 who lived at Bobrka,
Krosno Woj. Poland. Jozef MERMON was born 1839 and died 1882. His first wife was Katarzyna SZYDLO
(or SZYDqLO where the Polish "qL" is the Polish crossed L). Their son was Jan MERMON, born 1859 and
died at Bobrka. Anna MERMON was Jan's daughter. Anna was born 1878 at Bobrka, Krosno Woj. Poland
and died at Los Angeles, California in the 1960's. Brother Franciszek (Frank) immigrated to America and
settled in Western Pennsylvania. Sisters Ludwina, Malgorzata, Maldalena, Paulina, Zofia and Eleonora.
Brother Pawel. I am in contact with her Polish family (Rodzina) and have information on this family tree.
The second wife was Zofia BRZEGOWIEC, who had two sons Pawel born 1876 and Franciszek. Both lived in

I am looking for information on my great grandmother's family who came to LaSalle, Illinois from Posen
around 1900. I don't know the spelling of their name but it's pronounced something like WISNESKI. I would
like to know possible spellings for this name or any other information. My great-grandmother Katherine
Wisneski was born 5 July l887 in posen I think, and was Katherine WILLIAMS from her first marriage around
1909, then Katherine SCHALLA after her second marriage around 1915. She had a brother possibly named
Stanislau.

My great-grandfather, Frank HOFFMAN, was born at Dobieszewo, Poland in 1848. I've searched indexes and
several maps, but cannot locate a Dobieszewo, Poland. Do you know if one exists and if there are records for
this place so I can obtain records regarding my great-grandfather?
Webmaster's Note: Two separate locations exist by this name - both appear to be in the former German
province of Pommern: 1) is SE of Slupsk and NW of Bytow and 2) is just east of Lobez. You have posted a
bare minimum entry for this genealogy research list. If you care to add what you know about Frank's marriage
and death date/year and place, the maiden name and ditto for his spouse, we might be able to identify the
German spellings of those towns and check to see if futher records exist.

I am searching for information on my great grandparents: Walter Benjamin KAZMIERSKI (b. 1883 in Warsaw)
and his wife, Maryanna (KOZMINSKU, born 9 October 1885 or 1886). They were married in Poland in 1900
and emigrated shortly thereafter from somewhere on the outskirts of Warsaw (location unknown). She was the
daughter of Joseph KOZMINSKU who owned an estate where he bred Arabian horses. Walter Benjamin was a
stable boy there. I believe the connection will be made through the horse farm somehow. The KOMINSKU
family left behind in Poland was never heard from again after WW I. Any help out there will be greatly
appreciated.
PARKER, Judy
eMail address: Mumsmably@aol.com
I am searching for the district in Poland that my grandmother, KULESZA, Agatha came from. Her father was
Wincentego or Vincent KULESZA and her mother was Briggidy DROZDOIS or DROTZ. I know nothing
more about them. I have a birth certificate of my grandmothers brother that states the Archdiocese as Wilenska
and the parish as Babinsku. Other than the archdiocese and the names, there are two other words that might be
of significance and that is "Dridach" and "Dudrkiego". I am not sure what either of these two words mean or
if they are the area where the church (Roman Catholic) is. My grandmother was born in 1883 and died in
Massachusetts in 1971. She married Benjamin KRUPSKY in 1907 at South Boston, Massachuesetts and had 8
children. There is much more information I would like to research but I need to know where to start. Finding
the district where my grandmother came from is the most important at the time.
Webmaster's Note: Neither Babinsku nor Wilenska appear in a 1997 Polish auto atlas nor in the 17th
CD-ROM edition of the FHL Catalogue (April 1997) - thus it is possible you have a document that has either
mis-spelled those names or perhaps has been mis-read. You might want to have a professioanl Polish
genealogist look at it and be sure you are searching for the correct location.

My grandfather Stanislaw MALESZYK was born at Lublin, Lublin, Russia in 1885. His parents were
MALESZYK (unknown given name) and mother Anastasia KULIK. He emigrated to Canada sometime before
1915, when he married Franciszka ZIOLKOWSKI (parents Francesz and Catherine WALENCZUK) at Toronto,
Ontario, Canada. I've been told that the MALESZYK and KULIK names are NOT POLISH but ultimately
derive from somewhere else. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am looking for information about the ancestors of Franceszka ZIOLKOWSKI born 16 November 1888 at
Ostrow, Siedlce, Poland, North East of the city of Lublin. She was the youngest child of Francisz
ZIOLKOWSKI, and Catherine WALENCZUK, who died at birth of Franceszka, 16 November 1888, and was
raised by an older sister. She emigrated to Canada and married Stanislaw MALESZYK at Toronto,
Ontario, Canada in 1915. She claimed to be a direct descendant in a line from the Crown Hetman Stanislaw
ZOLKIEWSKI.
I am also looking for the ancestors of Catherine WALENCZUK born Poland circa 1848 -1858; married
Francesz ZIOLKOWSKI, (a lawyer and circuit judge) at Ostrow Poland, north east of the city of Lublin, likely
about 1878. She died 16 November 1888 at the birth of her daughter Franceszka. I am also searching KULIK,

I am seeking assistance in tracing my family roots and any possible family members. I have limited information
available to me. The information I do have is as follows: From my mother's birth certificate: Full Name:
Janina STENPIEN, born 24 December 1922 at Kajmow, Distr, Tarnobrzeg, Poland; Baptised 1922 at
Miechocin. Her father was STENPIEN. Her mother was Maria PYRZEWICZ. My mother, Janina
STENPIEN, was born and lived in Poland at the village of Kajmow in the District of Tarnobrzeg. She went to
school and church at Mehochen (the name of the school and church). She had 2 brothers-Franec (Frank) and
Wladick (Walter) as well as two sisters - Vernonica and Helen. She was taken by Germans to a work farm near
the village of Oberbincer (near Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany) when a teenager, that was the last she saw of
them I believe. I think her two sisters may have been in an orphanage near Tarnobrzeg. I believe that on
August 12, 1947 she arrived in the displaced persons camp of Wildflecken kries Brudkenau. My father was
Walter J. RABIEGA, born 13 June 1907 at Shorzenin, Distr, Wolsztyn, Poland. His father was Joseph
RABIEGA and his mother was Maryanna ZUREK RANIEGA.
Information on my father is from bits and pieces my mother has given me. He passed away in 1961 and my
mother does not have any other informayion. My father, Walter RABIEGA, was born in Poland in the town /
village of Shorzenin in the District of Wolsztyn. He had 7 brothers (don't know their names) and his family
were bakers I believe. I don't know the year but he met my mother on the work farm described above, which
was owned by a German family names of Joseph and Betty KESTELMERYER and their son Joseph Jr. He
married my mother at the displaced persons camp of Wildflecken. My mother, father, and oldest sister
Jadwiga, departed the camp sometime in 1951 via US military transport and came to New York via Ellis Island
from Bremen, Germany. They settled in Struthers (1.5 hrs. from Cleveland) Ohio. If anyone has any
information that may help me locate any possible relatives, I would appreciate your e-mailing me. I appreciate
any information you would be willing to share and thank you for your assistance in advance.

My Grandfather and grandmother came from Poland as did my mother. My family is Jewish so I know all are
dead, but I always had the hope of finding out whatever I could. My Grandfather's surname was SCHELL,
from Kalisaz. My Grandmother surname HARTMAN from Posen. My mother was from Warsaw; her maiden
name was SZTANIJALC. My great-great grandfarther and siblings and children were born in Kalisz. I know
my grandfather, Samuel SCHELL, was born in 1871; he moved to Germany with his wife Fredrika
HARTMAN from Posen; she was also born in 1871. They lived at Bad Mergentheim. She died and when the
WW II started (1939) he was deported back to Poland. My mothers sisters' surname is SZTANIJALC /
STEINSALZ / STANSAL. They lived on Milia 18-20 at Warsaw, and they stayed when everyone left. My
mother said they died in the Warsaw getto. I know they were not married. I want to know everything I can
find about them - where they died, if there were any cousins. Is an old map of the getto with the street names
possible? Thank you.
