Region: Zdeshiew, (sp?, located near Kiev) Ukraine, Austria
I am from a family descending from Thomas MARKIW (born 1864, died 1943) and Mary Markiw located in a village called Zdeshiew (sp.) Ukraine located near Kiev. Their children were Michael Markiw (my grandfather), Walter, Catherine, Harry, and Paul. My grandfather, Michael, came the first time to America in June 1907 to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and in 1908 returned to Ukraine to see his parents. In 1909 there were boys called to join the selective service to the Austrian Army , but my grandfather was 19 and you must be 21. He then realized he needed to return to America. So in June 1909 (after a stopover in Germany) he came back to Pittsburgh on the South Side. In 1911 he went to Butler, Pennsylvania and met my grandmother, Anna ZALIPSKA (Polish) and in 1913 they were married. I would very much like to find out about Zdeshiew (sp?). Everywhere I look..I cannot find it. I know my grandfather has relatives in Washington, Pennsylvania and Ford City, PA. Would appreciate any information that can be found.
Region: Iwane Puste, near Ternopol on the Dniestr, Galicia
I was born in Galicia in a small town, Iwane Puste, near Ternopol on the Dniestr, in 1920. I lost track of my family in 1939. I came to Douai, North France in 1940 (during the WW2). We were 7 children: Veronika (deceased), Wanda (likely deceased), Jean, Stephan, Stanis, Joseph (me) and Michel (the youngest, born 1927). In 1996, I found my brother Stefan SENKOW after a separation of 57 years. I seek assistance in locating the remainder of my family. My brothers, Michel and Stanis, may live in Poland or the Ukraine.
Does anyone have a current address for the Ternopol Archives and/or the Church of Borscev?
My grandather Fred Buchy 1872-1935 came to Canada in 1902, to Gilbert Plains Manitoba. His wife Nellie Dutka, arrived in 1903 with their 3 daughters Eva, Emily, and Mary.
Fred had 3 brothers Stan, Tony, and Steve. Stan also went to Gilbert Plains. Tony stayed in the Ukraine, Steve went to Seattle Washington U.S.A.
I don't know if thier were any sisters in the family. It has been suggested that some of the family may have emmigrated to Germany and Switzerland under the name Buchi.
Any info or resources would be appreicated.

I have information that a Jakob Makaryk, son of Valdemar Makaryk and Maria Drobert, was born on 30 October 1906 in Somostraschaly, Ukraine. I don't know if we are related, but it is a starting point. I am having difficulty locating Somostraschaly. Any assistance regarding the Makaryk surname or the town would be greatly appreciated.

My Grandfather (MRYGLOT) and Grandmother (SKRABA) came from Sambor and Rudki (I'm not sure which came from which) in Galicia probably just after WWI. My grandfather was in the Austrian army and when being forced to enter the Russian army (after they took control) went AWOL to America. I have reason to believe that the original spelling of my name was MRZYGLOD and was Americanized to MRYGLOT. My Grandmother ran away to America with her sister to avoid a forced marriage and I believe that she had a brother who stayed behind. Her sister married Leon DOMANSKI in America. I'd like to trace the family back in Galicia but don't know where to start. Any particular direction would be welcome.

I've been trying to find the Ukraine home town of Daniel Dybaylo (°1896 - + 1972) and the reason for his immigration to Southey, Saskatchewan. He arrived in Canada when he was 17 (1913).
My grandfather, called Morris Sandelburn when he emigrated to America, was born Moshe Sandelbaum (Hebrew name was Moshe Ben Mordechai HaCohen). He came to America in about 1915 and made a career in the American Army. He never spoke about his past, but I recently found a 2nd cousin in Brooklyn, New York, who said he came from a town named Lubamel in the Ukraine. Two generations prior to that, I was told his family lived in Palestine. Any information about relatives or information about the town would be much appreciated.

I need help finding someone in the Ukraine!!!
Surname(s): Pokotilov / Pateshzan
Region(s): Kiev
Here is everything I know about the woman we are looking for. Her name is Michelle Pokotilov, maiden name Pateshzan. She was married to Yakov Pokotilov sometime between 1969-1970, maybe earlier. They were divorced around 1978. They had a son on August 20, 1971 whose name is Oleg Pokotilov (my husband). Her last known address was 6 Shota Rhustavally St in Kiev or
it could be #25 the same street. It was a boarding house at that time. As far as we know she has a brother named Jack, and her mothers name is Lily or Lillia. I'm guessing that she's in her mid to late 40's, she could possibly have brown hair. I just want to make my son happy and let him meet his grandmother.
