I am searching for information about my father, Roman Ivanovich SOSENKO. He was born May 1, 1887 and died November 17, 1955.
He changed his last name to SOMMERS in 1920 in the Bronx County Court, Bronx, New York. He was from Nikolayev or Odessa.
His parents were Olga and Ivan SOSENKO.
He emmigrated with his sisters, Rose, Jeanne (Zhenya Baytya), Emma, Henrietta and Zena and his brothers George and Aaron. His brother, Albert, was born in this country. Their date of emmigration is unknown, probably between 1900-1905, as my father apprenticed at the Mayer Optical Company somewhere in NY or possibly Trenton, NJ in 1906.
I am searching for these two families TRUPP and DREIMAN. Both families immigrated to Argentina 1890-1915. She worked in New York City before moving on to Pennsylvania and finally moving to West Virginia, married and had 4 children. Her mother's name was Catharine, her father's name was Stanislaus.
My grandfather, John Helak, came to the U.S. in 1902. I am not sure where in Galicia he lived - perhaps in Lvov. I have been unable to trace his movement in the U.S. other than in West Virginia. His father's name was Stephan, his mother's name was Anna
