The FEEFHS board decided to offer full-time university students with a valid student-ID free admission to the 2019 FEEFHS conference. This also includes the pre-conference workshops, but not the catered reception and banquet. These could be added when the student signs up for the conference. Lunches, parking, hotel, and travel expenses are also not included in this package.
The student-ID must be valid at the time of the conference in early August 2019. The student is required to show the ID to the staff member that checks in the attendees. If no valid ID can be produced, the student can pay either the full conference fee or leave. This discount applies to any university or college student within the United States and Canada.
Another change was implemented with the sign-up process for the conference. Every attendee has to create a new user account before the sign-up for the conference can happen. When creating the account, students choose the option “Student”, and all the discounts mentioned above will be applied at the end of the checkout process.
The main conference will be held from August 7-9, 2019, the pre-conference workshops from August 5-6. The location is the Plaza Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah, right next door to the Family History Library. Classes are from 8:30 AM to 5 PM for the main conference, and 9 AM to 4:30 PM for the pre-conference workshops.
With this change, the FEEFHS board hopes to ignite more interest in East European genealogy in the younger generation.
