THANK YOU for a Wonderful Conference
Dear FEEFHS Community,
This message is long overdue, but we wanted to take a moment to express our sincere thanks to everyone who attended the 2024 FEEFHS Conference in Salt Lake City. Your participation made the event a success, and we are truly grateful for your support.
Based on the feedback we've received, we are pleased to hear that attendees found the conference both informative and engaging. We were proud to offer over 60 classes and several hands-on workshops, covering a wide range of topics related to Eastern Europe (with a focus on Poland and the Russian Empire) as well as Germany. Our presenters hailed from across the United States, with some joining us virtually from Germany, Poland, and Ukraine. One presenter even traveled from Israel to be with us in Salt Lake City—an example of the international reach that continues to grow within our community.
While the conference was a success, there are always areas where we can improve. We are aware of a few aspects that could have been better, and while we’re committed to addressing them, there are also factors beyond our control that we must work within.
As we announced during the conference, the 2025 FEEFHS Conference will be held online via Zoom. After careful consideration, the board has decided to alternate the format of the conference moving forward: In odd-numbered years, we will hold the conference virtually, and in even-numbered years, we will return to an in-person event in Salt Lake City. There are several reasons behind this decision:
• Lower Registration Fees: Hosting the conference virtually will allow us to keep registration costs affordable for all attendees.
• Greater Access to International Speakers: By holding the conference online, we can attract speakers from around the world who might not otherwise be able to travel to Salt Lake City.
• Diverse Topics and Niche Classes: An online conference gives us the flexibility to offer specialized classes and explore topics that may not be feasible in an in-person format.
• Inclusivity for All Researchers: We want to ensure that those who cannot afford to travel or are unable to attend in person have the opportunity to participate in the conference.
The dates for the 2025 virtual conference have been set for August 6-8, 2025. We will offer four simultaneous tracks of presentations, all of which will be recorded and made available to registered attendees via our website.
We hope you’ll join us again in August 2025 for another exciting and enriching online conference. We look forward to offering more compelling classes and further expanding our global community.
Thank you once again for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Milan Pohontsch
President of FEEFHS
