Conference Travel
Salt Lake City, the “Crossroads of the West,” is known for being easily accessible by car, rail, bus, and air. And it is one of the easiest cities to get to and to navigate as a visitor. Located in the center of the downtown area, the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel is adjacent to the FamilySearch Library, and a short walk to shopping, restaurants, historical sights, and many event venues.
Getting to Salt Lake City
By Air: The Salt Lake International Airport serves as a major hub for Delta Airlines but is also served by all other major airlines and their affiliates.
By Rail: Amtrak’s California Zephyr serves Salt Lake City from the San Francisco Bay Area in the West and from Chicago, Illinois in the East.
For city-to-city travel within Utah, Frontrunner is the Utah Transit Authoriy's communter rail system providing service from the north at Ogden to the south at Provo (an 83-mile corridor serving 15 stations in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake and Utah Counties). By Car: The Hotel has onsite guest parking at a daily rate (covering a 24-hr period) and fees may be charged to your room. Day parking passes are also available for those not staying at the Plaza. Day passes may be purchased at the Hotel registration desk with presen
tation of your Conference name badge. Both types of passes include in-and-out privileges.
Getting to the Conference Venue: General ground transportation options from the airport or Salt Lake Central (intermodal hub) include light rail, bus, taxi, app-based ride options and commercial shuttle. TRAX, Salt Lake’s light rail, is easily accessible by both the Green Line (from the airport to Temple Square station and beyond) and the Blue Line (from the Salt Lake Central to Temple Square station and on to the city of Sandy). Out and About in Salt Lake City
One of the best transportation options for Salt Lake City visitors is the “Free Fare Zone.” Riders may take TRAX light rail or any bus within the downtown area (see map below) at no cost. (Temple Square TRAX Station is directly outside the front door of the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel.) Schedules are posted at each station but may also be found online. 
Connections to other TRAX lines or bus lines beyond the downtown area may be made at the Central Station and online. Circled areas on the map at the right indicate TRAX stations. Visitor Information
Salt Lake City visitor information, including a restaurant guide and transportation map, will be available at the FEEFHS registration desk in the Plaza Hotel lobby. An assortment of sightseeing brochures is also available in the Hotel hallway by the elevators. The SLC Convention and Visitors Bureau staffs a Visitor Center and gift shop at 90 S. West Temple, just one block from the hotel. It is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Online information may be found at www.visitsaltlake.com.
