Conference Dining

We hope you’ll join us for Tuesday night’s Welcome Reception where there will be a buffet of finger foods…and also for the Closing Banquet on Friday night. But in the meantime, downtown Salt Lake City has a wide variety of dining venues. Many restaurants are within walking distance of the Crystal Inn (the conference hotel) and the Salt Palace Convention Center, where classes will be held.

Visit Salt Lake provides a complete list of options by cuisine or location.

The Closest, Quickest Food and Snacks Available

At the Crystal Inn: In the mornings, the hotel offers a complimentary hot breakfast buffet for hotel guests. In addition, there is also a guest shop offering light snacks and drinks. With microwaves and refrigerators in guest rooms, attendees have further personal options.

Inside the Salt Palace: There are a few concessions in the Salt Palace on the first floor in the center of the complex.

Inside the FamilySearch Library: On the first floor of the Library is a spacious eating area for patrons. With a large array of vending machines, it offers a variety of frozen and packaged food, snacks and drinks. There are microwaves and a sink, disposable cutlery, napkins, etc. Patrons bringing their own food are welcome to eat there as well. Note: no library materials are allowed inside the eating area, and no food is allowed outside the eating area.

Dining Out

Dining Options in Temple Square: Just to the east of the Salt Palace, there are two venues at the south edge of Temple Square: The Garden and The Roof, both within the historic Joseph Smith Building (built in 1911) on South Temple at the intersection with Main Street.

City Creek Center: Located two blocks from the Salt Palace and FamilySearch Library, this two-square-block complex includes shopping, dining, and entertainment, along with beautiful pathways, fountains, and the restored creek that originally wound its way through that area. Researchers can take a stroll past the historical sites on South Temple or meander through the complex’s shopping areas. Options range from the more formal to the informal.

Food Court at City Creek Center: The Food Court is further east within the City Creek Center. To limit walking or if you prefer to ride, from the side of the Salt Palace (the Temple Square stop), take any free TRAX line Southbound to the next stop (City Center stop). This will place you nearest the east entrance to the City Creek food court. There are a variety of restaurants located throughout the property.

The Gateway: A little over one-half mile southwest is The Gateway, an outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment area. The Gateway offers a wide variety of dining venues. To get there, take the northbound Blue Line on TRAX (which heads west if you board at the Temple Square Station) and exit at the Planetarium Station (second stop).
